REBT WORKSHEET
REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that focuses on identifying and challenging irrational
beliefs to promote more rational thinking and healthier emotional responses. Doing an REBT worksheet involves working through a
structured process to identify, dispute, and replace irrational beliefs.
A: Activating Event: Write down the specific situation that is causing you emotional distress. Be clear
and concise about what happened or what triggered your emotional response.
B: Beliefs: Identify the irrational beliefs or self-defeating thoughts you had about the situation. These are often
extreme, unrealistic, or absolutist beliefs that contribute to your emotional distress.
C: Consequences: Replace each irrational belief you identified with a more rational and balanced
thought. Write down the new beliefs that are healthier and more helpful. You can also mention how you
feel about the new rational thoughts or consequences you have written.
