Course Code/Number: CA2 Course Title: Competency Appraisal 2 Course Description: This subject provides an opportunity for senior nursing students to assess their capabilities in previous nursing subjects, namely, NCM 104, NCM 105 & NCM 106. It will provide the learner with an objective assessment about their preparedness and academic adequacy.

Course Objectives: At the end of the course the student will be able to 1. Recall the concepts of NCM 104, NCM 105 & NCM 106 effectively 2. Employ critical thinking when faced with various actual or simulated clinical event 3. Perform accurate self-assessment on their academic prowess 4. Develop the self-initiative to pursue directions for further improvement
5. Strengthen the use of the nursing process as a tool for problem solving

6. Integrate concepts of NCM 104, NCM 105 & NCM 106 7. Integrate social and support systems in the care of clients
8. Discriminate between care modalities and be able to prioritize the needed care to

clients effectively 9. Apply the gained knowledge in clinical scenarios


10. Deliver the highest possible quality of nursing care to clients nursing phenomena.

Course Policies Attendance Policy: Students are required to attend classes regularly and all stipulations given by the student handbook regarding attendance and punctuality will be applied.

Student Evaluation/ Grading Policies: All grades are computed using base 40 computations, in which 60% of the items will correspond to 75% point equivalent. The formula is as follows: Raw score x 60 -------------------Total Items Term grades are computed by the following method: [(40% quiz + 60% Term exam) x .5) + .5 of term review grade The final grade is computed by the following formula: (30% Prelim + 30% Midterm + 40% postmidterm) .80 + 20% of comprehensive exam Please take note that the final grade is composed of both the classroom grade and the grades in the Enhanced Competency Appraisal. Stipulations regarding the combination of the grades will follow the requisites of the term grade computation. All methods of grade computation can be subjected to change by the Dean of the College of Nursing. A student must get a grade of 75 or better to pass the course Examination Policy: Quizzes are given at a regular basis after each discussion. It will be comprised of 10n items and the questions are situational Term examinations, finals and comprehensive examinations are given at a scheduled basis as announced by the registrar All stipulations of the student manual regarding the administration, conduct during examinations and recourses to any effect will be followed strictly Expectations of Students: + 40

All students are expected to study diligently and to behave professionally; Leanings are encouraged to be applied to clinical events and scenarios. Furthermore, each student is expected to adapt to the demands of the course.

Assignments/ Presentations: All assignments, outputs or presentations delegated will have a corresponding deadline. Every deadline will be announced to give due time for students to accomplish the tasks required. Corresponding grading methods will be discussed as an assignment is given, together with are its penalties and deductions.
