In-class Activity: PESTLE Factors Workshop
Objective: Students will explore and analyze PESTLE factors that impact
businesses, enhancing their understanding of the external environment's role
in strategic planning.

Instructions:
1. Introduction to PESTLE (10 minutes)
Explain PESTLE Factors:
Political: Government policies, political stability, taxation changes, trade
restrictions.
Economic: Economic growth patterns, unemployment rates, inflation,
exchange rates.
Social: Cultural trends, demographics, population growth, consumer
behaviors.
Technological: Innovations, automation, technology adoption, R&D activities.
Legal: Regulations, employment laws, consumer protection laws, health and
safety standards.
Environmental: Sustainability issues, climate change, environmental
regulations, ecological impacts.
Provide Examples: Share a few examples of how each factor has impacted a

2. Divide Into Small Groups (5 minutes)
Organize students into small groups of 3-4.
3. Assign a Business Context (5 minutes)
Assign each group a specific industry or scenario. Examples could include:

4. Conduct Research on PESTLE Factors (20 minutes)
Group Discussion: Each group discusses and researches how each PESTLE
factor affects their assigned industry. They can use provided handouts,
available online articles, or case studies.
Guiding Questions: Encourage them to consider:
How do political changes impact their industry?
What economic trends should they monitor?
How does social behavior influence their market?
What technological advancements are relevant?

5. Prepare a Summary Poster (25 minutes)
Each group creates a summary poster that includes:
The industry name and context.
