silent-pak’ @ Prescolite’s unique SILENT-PAK (*) ballast for recessed H.L.D. downlights excels in its quietness and exceptionally low operating temperatures, assuring completely silent op- eration for all applications and attainment of maximum H.LD. ballasts are electromagnetic devices which generate sound. While the noise levels experienced in an installation depend to a great extent on the method of mounting the luminaire and the accoustical characteristics of the area, it is possible to control the noise generation by careful design of the luminaire and ballast components. The ‘Silent-Pak’ is made available as the premium ballast in the industry today and carries a sound rating of ‘A’ which is equivalent to 40W fluorescent ballasts. The Silent-Pak ballast is available on all fixtures with pre- wired external ballast mounting and offers many significant features: A. Integral conduit clamp. B, Extruded aluminum (.125 min. thickness) housing with heat dissipating fins. ©. Cooling vents. » D. Diecast aluminum end cap closure. E. Capacitor is thermally isolated and enclosed in a diecast compartment with access for servicing. F. Constant wattage auto-stabilized, high power factor core and coil ballast component is encapsulated in @ thermally conductive class F (155°C) insulation ‘material which isolates sound attenuating vibration. G. Rugged two bolt mounting for easy installation and servicing H. Mounting ‘C’ brackets accept standard 1%" lathing channels (by others) and provide vertical adjustment. All fixtures are supplied with attached prewired junc- tion boxes ready for connection to supply leads. All are ULL. listed for through branch circuit wiring and damp locations. Optional Mere-Minder. The Merc-Minder gives instant In- candescent light continuously from the moment the cur- rent energizes (or re-energizes after voltage interruption) until the H.1.D. lamp reaches 70% or more of its rated out: put. Both lamps give light during this critical 2 to 6 minute interval. The Merc-Minder Option includes a double con: tact bayonet socket, factory installed, for use with 100W- ® 250W, quartz lamp.
