?Colchicine
Colchicine is a drug used to treat inflammation and relieve pain.
It is commonly used to relieve the symptoms of gout, as it
affects the body's response to uric acid. One of the symptoms of
gout that colchicine helps relieve is swelling of the extremities
.or severe pain in the extremities
The drug is also used to treat Familial Mediterranean Fever, but
the mechanism of action is still unknown and under scientific
research. Familial Mediterranean Fever is a hereditary
inflammatory condition that causes bouts of fever, pain, and
.swelling in the stomach, lungs, and joints
It should be noted that colchicine is not a pain reliever and
cannot be used to treat pain resulting from conditions other
than gout or Familial Mediterranean Fever. It is classified as an
anti-gout drug and works by stopping the natural processes that
.cause swelling and other symptoms of gout and fever
