Executive Director 1999 - 2001 United Way of Pitt County, Greenville, NC * Experienced a 3.63% combined growth in 1999 and 2000 campaigns. These gains w ere realized in spite of Pitt being the hardest hit county during Hurricane Floy d and floods in September 1999. Hurricane Floyd's destruction stands as the mos t costly disaster in NC history. Additionally, the second largest employer, Pro ctor and Gamble, closed operations in January of 2000. * Restructured the Pacesetter campaign to include the 10 largest campaigns versu s 6 middle-sized, end the Pacesetter campaign prior to hurricane season, and pla ce greater emphasis on CEO calls. This campaign division accounts for 50% of to tal campaign versus 23% originally. * Increased Leadership Giving participation in workplace campaigns by 36% throug h new printed materials and inclusion of the Leadership Giving Chair in most CEO calls. * Coordinated and managed the 2nd largest SECC campaign in NC. East Carolina Un iversity served as the largest sector of that campaign. * Developed and coordinated the volunteer management aspect for Pitt County's Em ergency Operation Center beginning with Hurricane Floyd and now a sitting member of EOC. "Project RAFT - Relief After Floyd Team" was an 18 phone command cente r that provided for the linkage of people and organizations needing help and tho se wishing to help. Over 60,000 volunteer hours where coordinated and 78 commun ity organizations use RAFT to recruit their flood relief volunteers. RAFT volun teers helped 268 families clean up and tear out their homes. * Facilitated the legal and philosophical merger between United Way and the Pitt Volunteer Action Center. * Successfully reduced operational cost by 8% through various cost-saving measur es that included staffing from 8 full-time positions to current 5 full-time, 2 p art-time and competitive bidding processes on goods and services. * Initiated a partnership with a local church to open a Gifts-In-Kind Distributi on Center. Executive Director 1992 -1999 United Way of Coastal Carolina, New Bern, NC * Developed and implemented a strategic planning process...that worked. Brought diversity to the boardroom, revitalization to the campaign, and a neighboring c ounty into our United Way. * Restructured and brought credibility to the allocation process by the inclusio n of citizenry. * Led the Board of Directors, through advocacy and education, to conduct a first -time community needs assessment. * Managed successful United Way and Combined Federal Campaigns as evidenced by a 42% increase in giving 1993-1998 for a combined total in 1998 of $772,600. * Developed and maintained an ongoing dialogue with volunteer and professional l eaders at all levels in the United Way movement. * Selected and served on the United Way of America's Executive Search Committee that resulted in the hiring of Betty Beene. * Served as the Profession Co-Chair of the national Red Feather Society.
