Dear Principal, Sub: Invitation to participate in SPIC MACAY Karnataka State Convention, 3-5 Feb 2012 SPIC MACAY is a registered voluntary non-profit movement founded in 1977 by Padmashri awardee Dr Kiran Seth, a Prof at IIT Delhi. It seeks to introduce the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry of India to the youth through focus on the classical arts. Presently, SPIC MACAY has more than 250 chapters in India and abroad which organise more than 3200 programmes in a year in schools and colleges to benefit more than a million students. The Tumkur chapter of SPIC MACAY is organising the Karnataka State Convention, 2012. Date: Fri, 3rd morning to Sun, 5th February evening, 2012 Venue: Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), Tumkur. Participants: SPIC MACAY Volunteers and Students from Educational Institutions from entire Karnataka This Convention will be inaugurated by H.E.Hon ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri H.R.Bhardwaj on 3 Feb at 12 noon with a Yakshagana performance by Keremane Shivananda Hegde. Other artistes performing at the Convention are Vidushi Malavika Sarukkai (Bharatnatyam), Konark Natya Mandap (Gotipua), Shri Tejendar Majumdar (Sarod), Vidwan T.N.Seshagopalan (Carnatic Vocal). Alongside, master craftspersons of Lambadi, Kasuti, Warli, Chittara and other crafts will exhibit, sell and teach the crafts to participants in two Workshops of 3 hours each.There will also be intensives in carnatic and hHindustani vocal, Yakshagana and theatre. There will be stalls on holistic food & waste management too. We invite your esteemed institution to partner with SPIC MACAY and send one faculty member with nine interested students to take part in the Convention. We will take care of accommodation and food.
