Two deadly guns once owned by notorious
gangsters Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow
have been sold for a staggering $210,000
after going under the hammer at auction.
A .45 calibre Thompson sub-machine gun,
which is also known as a Tommy gun, sold for
$130,000 while the 12-gauge Winchester
fetched $80,000 - much higher than pre-
dicted.
The weapons, which date back to 1897, were
bought by the same online bidder at an auc-
tion in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday.
While the auction house had not put an es-
timated value on the weapons, online bids
before the event reached $35,000 for the
Tommy gun. Three weeks ago, a Missouri

Smokey Jalapeno Cheese Dip
BBQ Chicken Sandwiches
Gulf Coast Guacamole Dip
Ingredients:
3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup canned diced jalapeno pep-
pers, drained (reserve juice)
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
Directions
Place the Cheddar cheese into a bowl.
In a separate bowl, combine the may-
onnaise with the jalapeno peppers, 2 ta-
blespoons of the liquid from the diced
jalapenos, smoke flavoring, garlic pow-
der, and cayenne pepper. Mix until thor
oughly blended. Stir into the Cheddar
cheese, turn into a serving dish, and
serve.
Ingredients
* 2 (4 pound) whole chickens, cut up
* 1 1/2 cups ketchup
* 3/4 cup prepared mustard
* 5 tablespoons brown sugar
* 5 tablespoons minced garlic
* 5 tablespoons honey
* 1/4 cup steak sauce
* 4 tablespoons lemon juice
* 3 tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring
salt and pepper to taste
* 12 hamburger buns
* 3 cups prepared coleslaw (optional)
Directions
Place chicken in a large pot with enough
water to cover. Bring to a boil, and cook
until chicken comes off the bone easily,
about 3 hours. Make sauce while the
chicken cooks.
In a saucepan over medium heat, mix
together the ketchup, mustard, brown
sugar, garlic, honey, steak sauce, lemon
juice, and liquid smoke. Season with salt
and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil, and
simmer for about 10 minutes. Set aside
to allow flavors to mingle.
When the chicken is done, remove all
meat from the bones, and chop or shred
into small pieces. Place in a pan with the

let the flavor of the sauce soak into the
chicken. Spoon barbequed chicken onto
buns, and top with coleslaw if you like.

JFK Hearse: Cadillac That Carried Kennedy's Body after Assassination Auctioned
The Miller-Meteor Cadillac hearse that carried
former U.S. President John F. Kennedy's cas-
ket after he was assassinated in 1963 was auc-
tioned at a Scottsdale, Arizona auction this
weekend for $160,000.
Stephen Tebo, a real estate developer from
Colorado, bought the hearse that carried the
former President, along with his wife Jacque-
line Kennedy, from a Dallas hospital to the air-
port.
Tebo, who purchased the car from the auction
company Barrett-Jackson, will keep the vehicle
as part of his extensive rare vehicle collection,
featuring over 400 automobiles including a cus-
tom Rolls-Royce limousine once owned by
John Lennon.
"A Cadillac hearse like this would ordinarily be
worth about $40,000 if not for its connection to
the Kennedy assassination," said McKeel
Hagerty, President of the collector car insur-
ance company, Hagerty Insurance.
According to Daily Mail reports, it was a Don
McElroy, from the O'Neal Funeral Home in Dal-
las, who received a call from the Secret Service
to ready a casket and hearse and bring it to the
Park Memorial Hospital in the city.
McElroy reportedly helped move the Presi-
dent's body into the car and pushed down the
rear seat in order to allow Jacqueline Kennedy
to sit close to her husband. Secret Service
agents then drove the hearse to the airport and
left it there after they boarded the plane to
Washington.
The funeral home kept the hearse till the late
1960s, when it was sold to a collector who,
decades later, sold it to it a second owner who
then put it up for auction at the Barrett-Jackson
event.

First drawing of Bell''s telephone system
goes up for auction
London, An eight-page letter penned
in 1878 by Scottish-born inventor
Alexander Graham Bell, containing a
rare picture of his first telephone sys-
tem, is up for auction.
The missive, being
sold by New Hamp-
shire-based RR Auc-
tion, was written by
Bell to his father in
1878 after a "light-
ning accident" threat-
ened the integrity of
his fledging inven-
tion, the ''Daily Mail''
reported.
The letter is high-
lighted by a one-of-a-
kind sketch of two
connected tele-
phones, with in-depth
instructions to his
family on a neces-
sary safety precau-
tion -- one that could possibly save their
lives.
Bell writes in the letter, postmarked
from Washington DC, on December 30,
to his parents that he is "quite troubled
by your account of the lightning acci-
dent at Tutelo Heights.
The accident shows that the earth ter-
minals of your telephone line are de-
fective for the current found a shorter
path to the ground through two of your
poles than by the
proper path". And he
goes on to draw a re-
markable diagram --
two telephones --
showing the correct
mechanical assem-
blage to ensure proper
function and, above
all, safety. Bell contin-
ues: "As I do not know
your connections I
shall merely state
what connections I
should advise in order
to prevent a repetition
of the accident --
which might have
been more serious
had the poles not
been struck and thus
afforded a partial pas-
sage to the earth."
Bell was a pioneer in the field of
telecommunications and inventor of the
"electrical speech machine". He in-
vented the telephone in 1876 with the
help of his assistant Thomas A Watson.

. . .Weapons
daring raid on the duo in April 1933
went wrong and two officers were killed
in a hail of bullets.
During their getaway, the outlaws,left
behind the two guns in Joplin, Missouri.
A policeman involved in the raid recov-
ered both guns - and a camera which
contained a series of black and white
snaps. They believe these grainy, aged
images are proof that the guns once
lay in the deadly hands of the
rogue duo.
An unnamed officer handed
the weapons to a police col-
league, and they have re-
mained with the family ever
since.
But the law enforcement offi-
cer's great-grandson Mark
Lairmore decided to sell the
lot to share their unique his-
tory with the world.
Mark, from Springfield, Mis-
souri, USA, said earlier this
month: 'They were a gift from
one policeman to another.
There is no doubt in my
mind whatsoever that these
guns belonged to Bonnie
and Clyde.
'They bragged to the offi-
cer about having stolen
their Tommy gun in
Ohio, and the serial
number on my gun is
the same as one that
was once listed as
'It was documented in the local paper -
that to me is huge and a massive slice
of history is held in these guns.' He de-
cided to sell the guns after the death of
his father, who passed them down to
him. Mark added: 'They have been in
the Springfield Police Museum since
1973.'I feel it's time for someone with
an appreciation of antique guns and
the history behind them owns them and
cares for them.'
Robert Mayo, who auctioned the
weapons at Mayo Auction and Realty,
in Kansas City, said: 'These guns are
highly collectible and would draw at-
tention in any sale by their own history
and merit.'

'Soitenly!' Stooges poster has $59,750
payday at Heritage
DALLAS Comedy was definitely king
in Heritage AuctionsVintage Movie
Posters Signature Auction, as a one
sheet movie poster for The Three
Stooges in Three Lit-
tle Beers (Columbia,
1935) brought
$59,750 to lead the
auction, which real-
ized $1.6 million
total.
The Stooges are as
popular as ever,
said Grey Smith, di-
rector of Movie
Posters at Heritage.
This is a very good
result on a simply
superb poster. I
have to think that
Moe, Larry and
Curly would all be
thrilled to see how
beloved they are al-
most 80 years after they made this
movie.
More than 1,300 bidders competed for
the 1,472 lots in the auction, translat-
ing into a 91.8 percent sell-through rate
by total value.
We saw solid bidding across the
board, said Smith. All genres per-
formed well and many posters went for
several times their preauction esti-
mates, which is always a pleasant sur-
prise.
Chief among those pleasant surprises
was a one sheet for Anna Christie
(MGM, 1930), Greta Garbos most fa-
mous role, and her inaugural sound
film, which brought $38,838 against a
preauction estimate of $5,000-plus. A
half sheet for RKOs 1932 The Most
Dangerous Game, one of the rarest
and most desirable half sheets from
the 1930s horror genre, was the sub-
ject of spirited bidding before finally fin-
ishing the day with a solid $31,070
price realized, while
a Style B one sheet
for Paramounts
1935 The Devil is a
Woman, featuring
an irresistible Mar-
lene Dietrich dra-
matically in the arms
of one of her Latin
lovers, Cesar
Romero, brought
$26,290.
Hitchcock fans
turned out for a
beautiful one sheet
from The 39 Steps
(Gaumont, 1935),
an extremely rare
poster that has only
been offered one
other time by Heritage in the 10 years
of the Movie Poster category, easily ex-
ceeded its $10,000-plus estimate to
finish at $17,925.
Further highlights include:
This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942),
one sheet: realized: $17,328.
The Return of Sherlock Holmes (Para-
mount, 1929), one sheet, Style A: real-
ized: $16,730.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Paramount,
1931), window card: realized: $16,133.
King Kong (RKO, 1933), French
grande: realized: $14,340.
Breakfast at Tiffany's (Paramount,
1961), one sheet: realized: $13,145.

World's Largest Emerald Up for Auction
A 57,000-carat emerald, which is said
to be the world's largest, will be sold
on January 28 at Western Star Auc-
tions in British Columbia, Canada. The
giant jewel weighs 11.5 kilograms and
is around 12 inches long.

colored diamonds
On Monday, the gem was appraised at
$1.15 million since it is only a rough cut
stone. But Western Star Auctions
owner Mike Odenbach told Huff Post
Canada he thinks it could fetch more
at auction. "It's not unusual for gem-
stones to sell a lot higher than their ap-
praised value, just depending on who
wants to possess the largest emerald
in the world," he said. Odenbach de-
scribed the dark green emerald as
"nothing short of spectacular."

els to the Golden Globes
The emerald was discovered in Brazil
and cut in India. Rare gem dealer
Regan Reany of Calgary got an email
about the stone and thought it was too
good to be true. But the emerald is, in
fact, very real and heading to Kelowna,
British Columbia with armed security.
The auction house has ensured the
jewel will be heavily guarded until the
auction later this month. "The gem-
stone is named 'Teodora' and rough
translation is 'God's Gift,'" Odenbach
told Huff Post. "To me we're being
given an opportunity to expose our-
selves internationally as an auction
company that can handle items like
this. You know, it really does feel like a
gift."
Can't afford the $1.15 million asking
price? Another ultra-expensive, but far
smaller emerald is missing in Hong
Kong. The Daily Mail reports that
Swiss jeweler Caroline Gruosi-
Scheufele took off her 16 carat emer-
ald and diamond ring while washing
her hands in the bathroom of the Four
Seasons Hotel's Harbour View ball-
room. Once she realized her error and
ran back seven minutes later the ring
was gone. The missing ring is valued
at over $1.5 million and the owner is
offering a $62,000 reward.
Perhaps the world's largest emerald
isn't worth quite as much, but at least
you'll never lose it!
