Mathematics 3

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
1. Identify whole numbers and their place value.
2. Read and write numbers in symbols and in words
3. Internalize the importance of understanding place value in numbers.

2. What are your ideas about the place value, and how value
different from place value?
3. Based on the video, how place value relates to real life?
Explore (5 minutes)
Group Activity: Pick and Build The teacher will group the pupils into five groups.
Each group will pick a folded paper that has whole numbers written
on it.
Each group will build and paste the paper blocks inside their
respective charts of place value.
The first group to finish will receive a point.

Explain ( 5 minutes)
The teacher will relate the group activity to the lesson proper. The
pupils will watch another video to further explain the lesson about
place value. The teacher will monitor the understanding of the
students by asking question while watching.

Elaborate (15 minutes)


Group Activity: The teacher will group the pupils into three groups.
“PLACE VALUElicious” Each group will be going to help Aling Mina to count her fruits that
she harvested in her farm. (Mango, Orange, Pineapple)
Each group will write their answer in numbers and in words
Group 1- Mango
Group 2- Pineapple
Group 3- Orange
Each member should cooperate with their groupmates and the
groups will present their work in front of the class to generalize the
discussion and their understanding.
Evaluation (5 minutes)
Individual Quiz: Test my Learnings The teacher will give the pupils a quiz.
Directions: Solve the following problems.
1. A number has 5 tens and 4 ones. What is the number?
2. A number has 7 ones and 2 fewer tens than ones. What is the
number?
3. What is the place value of 5 in 256?
4. What is the place value of 9 in 329?
5. What is the place value of 7 in 745?

Directions: Write as numerals and words.
