Even so, we are still one,
Let us say regards to you,
Therefore, let me introduce my self, my name is Ayuni Diah Melani, the delegation of Regional
Literature, faculty of art, Sebelas Maret University. In this occasion, I am so proud to present my work.
Did you know? That the Javanese are one of the large and advanced tribes in Indonesia. The Javanese
have a culture that is inherited and needs to be preserved. One of them are Serat Wulangreh. However,
in reality, currently the preservation of this culture is still not optimal.
Based on a survey that the author conducted on 100 millennial generation respondents. 88% of the
respondents stated that they like learning Javanese culture. However, only 39% of respondents know
about SeratWulangreh. In fact, only 26% of respondents have ever read the contents of Serat
Wulangreh. Besides, Serat Wulangreh contains teachings about social life from various aspects.
On the other hand, the development of human science and knowledge requires the development of
created technology, including gadgets and the internet. Based on a survey the author conducted on 100
respondents, 54% of respondents use gadgets for more than 12 hours in a day. 65% of respondents also
stated that they could not stay away from gadgets. The high frequency the use of gadgets can create
new problems for each generation.
The moral degradation is one of the problems that occurs as a result of technological developments in
Indonesia. The number of cases of bullying, immoral acts, and murder are the real examples of the
downturn of the nation. Thus, the phenomenon of moral degradation must receive special attention
from various parties. If it isnot, this could affect the progress of the Indonesian nation in the future.
Based on the reasons above, we are proud to present our innovative and solution ideas with the

SEWULAN: INNOVATION IN RECOGNITION AND REVITALIZATION OF JAVA CULTURE AS CHARACTER
FORMING IN MILLENIAL GENERATIONS THROUGH SERAT WULANGREH ANDROID BASED
Dear judges and viewers. Furthermore, regarding the method of writing works, we use mixed methods.
Meanwhile, the data collection technique goes through 3 stages:
The pre-development stage with a closed questionnaire
Application development stage
Post-development stage with written responses
And to present the data, we analyzed the data using descriptive qualitative method.
Ladies and gentlemen, then we will explain the 3 subsections which contained in the discussion chapter.
First, the urgency of revitalizing Javanese culture and character building.
Javanese culture needs to be revitalized in the millennial generation from an early age. This is because
the values contained in Javanese culture are still very relevant to today's life and it can be used as a
guide for living in social life. Like Serat Wulangreh which contains the values of character and noble
character which can be used as a guideline for life. The formation of good character will make the
millennial generation as a good and have quality person.
Second, the SEWULAN application development stage.
in developing the application of SEWAN required 4 stages. Namely the stage of scenario design,
modeling, production, and testing.
It can be seen on the screen, that's what the SEWAN application we are developing looks like. The
SEWULAN application was developed in the audio-visual genre of Serat Wulangreh.
We have tested this application on several respondents from the millennial generation who are indeed
the target of the SEWULAN application development.
Third, the impact of using the SEWULAN application
The SEWULAN application raises elements of local culture which are packaged digitally so that they can
be used easily by Android users. In addition, efforts to improve moral through Serat Wulangreh will have
an indirect and pleasant impact on the attitudes, behavior, ways of thinking, and courtesy of users.
In general, the implementation of the SEWULAN application had a positive impact on families and
communities. This is supported by an increase in cultural insight and the formation of individual
characters on an ongoing basis. Thus, the SEWU WAE application is highly useful and multifunctional.
Based on the explanations that we have conveyed, it can be concluded that
The urgency of revitalizing Javanese culture and character building is very important to be instilled in the
millennial generation from now on in order to welcome the 2030 SDGs.

The SEWULAN application has a positive impact on various parties.
Meanwhile, the suggestions that we can give regarding the application are the need for software
development and content updating in order to add educational and creative value to the SEWULAN
application.
