whole which is commonly recognize by the

The first element is the Duration or the lengths

of time a pitch or tone is sounded. It basically
explains on how long the note will be sounded.

Duration has two different

The first is long duration.

For example: “Row Row Row Your Boat” (with

duration.

The second is short duration.

pitch.

Pitch or the note of the song that has a high or

low pitch.

I will you my hand to show you the high and the

low pitch of the song. If my hand goes up the
pitch is high and when my hand goes down the
pitch is low. (The students will identify how high
or low the pitch of the song is).
(The teacher will sing a song)

Very Good class!

Yes! Teacher.

Do you understand the second element?

Let’s proceed to the last elements of the Melody

which is Quality.

Quality or the perceptual reaction to the sound.

This element depends on how the listener
accept the sounds.

Quality haw two different.

(The teacher will give example)

First “Row Row Row.... “. (First quality)

Secong “ Row Row Row.... “. ( Second quality)

Class can you tell me, what quality is more

pleasing to your ears?
The first one or the second one? (Students will either raise their
hands or not)
Who likes the first one?
(Students will either raise their
