5 Work Method
5.1 Construction Method
METHOD STATEMENT
Task Details and Purpose
Project Start-up
Kick off meetings with Client and Engineer Review drawings, set communication
channels, discuss environmental
constraints, revise project schedule
Community Stakeholder meetings Assign community liaison for local
jobs, site security, disturbances, public
safety, traffic control
Material Procurement Arrangements Secure supply arrangements with
quarries, sewer pump, diesel generator,
fuel tank
Material Lab Testing Lab testing for aggregates to receive
approval from Engineer
Site Office Set-up Establish site location and connection to
relevant services such as internet,
electricity and sanitary conveniences
Mobilization of equipment and workforce on site Mobilize excavators, backhoe, front end
loaders, roller, dump trucks
Traffic Management Fabrication and installation of
necessary signs for heavy equipment
and issue any relevant notification to
NWA
Preparation of site access and stockpile areas Prepare laydown areas for aggregate
and prepare access points where
necessary
Preconstruction Survey A pre-build survey outlining roadways,
pipelines - confirm site benchmarks
Construction of Roadways
Strip site and Lot filling Excavate to reduce levels to the
required depth for formation levels and
bring excavated material to lot that
requires filling
Prepare formation levels Remove unsuitable material and any
soft spots - grade, shape, rolling and
compacted as specified to receive sub-
base
Filling to make up levels Imported marl fill to make up levels as
set out by the Surveyor
Sub-Base and Base Imported shingles and marl fill to
required levels, spread, leveled, watered

including grading and rolling to falls
and cross falls
Asphalting Works Will commence after final grading to
proper falls to marl and proctor density
tests
Installation of stormwater, sewer, water supply systems
Survey setting out Set out the work area as per the
drawings to highlight the offsets and
depth of the excavation to be done to
the various areas - manhole positions
etc.
Excavation of pipelines Excavation of pipelines to required
depth - Item to run concurrently with
the filling to make up levels item in
Pipe laying All pipes are laid with due regard to the
fall and invert levels set out in the shop
drawing. The alignment for laying of
the pipes will strictly follow the pegs
given by the surveyor.
Backfilling of piping After pipe laying, Inspection and
approved bedding material shall be used
for pipe surround, compacted with hand
from all sides while tamping lightly
over the crown.
Manholes/ Lift Station Once position is given then we will
excavate the areas, lay steel, pour
concrete base, lay blocks, steel float
finish and bench internally, form slab
and pour concrete and install frame and
cover
Construction of Pumphouse
Base Preparation Excavate to grade and level with
granular material
Install Steel Install steelwork with required overlaps
Form and cast base Cast base in-situ
Walls and Framing Lay concrete blocks and frame up
lintels, stiffeners, belt beams and pour
concrete in the various areas - form and
pour slab
Remove Formwork Remove formwork and finish concrete
surface as required.
Demobilization
Close-off meetings with Client Meetings and presentation of final
