Greaves Farymann introduces a new range of engines

New 4 cylinder-model range 275 WT/WTA

Now, Greaves Farymann Diesel presents a new range of engines. To start with the two 4 cylinder models namely 275 WT and 275 WTA have already been introduced. These engines develop 55 and 74.9 kW @ 1500 rpm respectively. These are water-cooled in-line type engines, which have been developed primarily for constant speed applications. These engines comply with the prevalent emission regulations in Europe, i.e. EU RL 97/68 EG stage II and are also poised to fulfill stage III norms as well.

Technical features

The engines are equipped with Bosch injection system having a mechanical governor, suitable for constant speed of 1500/1800 rpm. With a displacement of 4.5 liters the turbo-loaded 275 WT develops 55

kW and the turbo-loaded intercooled 275 WTA develops 74.9 kW @ 1500 rpm.

The stages II emissions norms have been achieved without external gas treatment and without

use of any electronics whatsoever. It was a clear development target set by the company as opposed to the trend of more complex/electronic system engines. These engines therefore employ proven and reliable Bosch injection system/components. A goal was to make the installation of the engines without complex interfaces and electronics and mainly to give the user the possibility, to operate and maintain the engines without the use of laptop and software or especially trained service technicians of the manufacturers.

Scope of supply:

The standard scope of supply consists of the basic engine with 12 V-equipment including stop solenoid, dual fuel filter, built-on dry type air cleaner and exhaust bellow with stainless steel flexible compensator. The complete cooling system including all hoses and piping is also provided in the standard scope of supply. The engine is equipped with a gear driven water- and oil pump. Individual cylinder heads as well as wet cylinder liners are used. The fan and the battery charging alternator are driven by a v-belt drive. 24 V electric starting equipment and an electronic governor are also offered as options.

Range of applications:

These engines can be used in all applications with constant rpm of 1500 or 1800 rpm as the case may be. Key market being targeted is the generator market in Europe as well as in other countries/continents. Further targeted applications are all kinds of pumps- and hydraulic units, as well as drives of mobile crushers and screening plants. The indicated engine outputs are fixed for ambient conditions up to 45C and an altitude up to 1000 m. Within these parameters, no deration is required.

The perspective of the model range:

The power spectrum of this range of engines will expand gradually. The next step will be 3-cylinder engines, which are with a capacity of 3.4 liters. With the planed new engines the company would enhance the range of its products up to 120 kW and offer a wide solution to its OEMs.

The launch of the new engines reflects the success of the manufacturer in its efforts to expand its product portfolio and further strengthen the manufacturing base at Lampertheim in Hessen, Germany.
