1. DEVICE INSTALLATION
1.1 REQUIRED INSTRUMENTS
All the device installation procedures are described in the videos uploaded on the extranet. The following instruments
are necessary to perform all the procedure properly:
Allen wrench set
Screwdrivers
Scissors
Spirit level
Electric cable
Threaded bars or bolts
Network cables
RJ12 telephone cable
Calibration kit
WARNING: After mechanical installation, check that:
1 - kinematic mechanism is securely fastened to the column and that it does not swing. Check that the
6 M8 fixing screws (2 side and 4 front screws) are fully tightened.
2 - In case of stand installation: the column must be securely fastened and there should be no clea-
rance.
3 - In case of wall installation: the column must be securely anchored to the wall (check bolts or
counter-plate) and there should be no clearance.
In case of column vibrations check the following:
1 - If the device is in AIR version: check that the screws fastening the column to the wall are not too tightened and the
feet are adjusted so that the column is levelled and is not affected by torsion. If required, loosen 2 of the 4 fixing
screws (in a cross pattern from top right to bottom left, or vice versa) so that the column has a little clearance. Adjust
the feet to make the column rest against the wall.
2 - If the device is fastened both to the wall and to the floor: check that the column is not affected by torsion. Loosen the
screws fastening it to the ground to allow a little clearance to the column. In order to position the column correctly
move it a couple of times to adjust it, then secure it to the floor.
1.2 INTERNAL CONNECTIONS
Once the device has been installed, connect the column cables to the kinematic unit:
There are 5 connectors that have to be connected
to the power board:
K1 Column motor
K2 Column motor thermal sensor
K13 Column upper end stop photocell
K18 Column lower end stop photocell
K22 Anti-crushing microswitch
WARNING: check the photocell connections; DO NOT reverse K13 and K18!

3. PC CONFIGURATION
3.1 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The device works with 2 Ethernet connections, one for generic communication with the PC (that can be connected to a
local area network and works in DHPC) and another one, which must absolutely be point-to-point, dedicated to image
acquisition from the 3D panel, therefore connecting the device to the INTEL PRO 1000 network card of the computer.
The computer dedicated to image acquisition (from now on “Acquisition Server”) must have MANDATORY requirements.
Refer to the user manual of the NNT (chapter 2.3) for the minimum requirements of the pc clients not directly connected
to the machine.
3.2 PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
The Acquisition Server must comply with the above-mentioned requirements. If it is supplied by Cefla, the entire
hardware will already be assembled and the entire software will be installed. Otherwise, it will be necessary to assemble
a PC that complies with the specifications and install the entire software autonomously.
The 2 PC network cards will be needed for the communication between device and PC and for the connection between
Sensor and PC. The latter connection is carried out by means of a dedicated network card (INTEL PRO 1000) that
must be compulsorily used and needs a free PCI-E slot on the PC motherboard.
The operating system of the acquisition server is compulsorily WINDOWS 7 PRO 64 bit or WINDOWS 8.1 64 bit. Once
installed, make sure that all the peripheral drivers are properly recognised.
The Intel PRO 1000 is automatically detected by the operating system and installed with the corresponding drivers
(that have to be updated).
The acquisition server needs an account with the administrator rights.
WARNING: for the video card drivers, use the pack available on the Extranet.
During video driver installation, the .NET Framework 4.0 libraries will be installed too, which are essential to install the
software. Make sure that the list of the programmes installed on the pc contains the following items:
If, for whatever reason, such items are not installed, they may be downloaded from the Microsoft website.

Wait until the service is stopped:
Click on “OK” to close the dialogue window.
From the Windows Services list, search for “Windows
update”, stop the service and disable the automatic
startup.
3.5 PC-DEVICE CONNECTION
The device may be connected to a local area network or directly to the Acquisition Server PC. In both cases, the 3D
panel Ethernet connection must absolutely be point-to-point and is always managed autonomously by the software
and the machine. Therefore, it is not necessary to set any IP address on the INTEL PRO 1000 board, as it will be set
autonomously during the software installation procedure described in the following chapters. On the other hand, it may
be necessary to set a static IP address for the network card dedicated to PC – device communication. If this network
card too is characterised by a direct connection (see the following figure), then it will be necessary to set an IP address
compatible with the default address of the device (192.168.1.160).
12 PC CONFIGURATION EN
NewTom GO 2D/3D - TECHNICAL MANUAL
To set a static IP address for a network card, click on
the “Start” button, type “ncpa.cpl” in the search field
and press enter. The connection management window
will open.
If a fixed IP address must be set for the network
card dedicated to communication, right-click on the
corresponding connection (not the INTEL pro 1000
connection, but the one supplied by the other network
card) and select “properties”.
Then select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”
and click on “properties”.
EN PC CONFIGURATION 13
NewTom GO 2D/3D - TECHNICAL MANUAL
An IP address compatible with the one of the device
must be specified. In the “IP address” field, just indicate
an address of the 192.168.1.XXX type, where XXX is
any number between 1 and 254, except for the device
ip address (160 in case of default address). The Subnet
mask is already filled out properly.
Click “OK” to confirm.
On the other hand, in case of connection to a local area network (see the following figure), the network card for the
connection with the device too must have the option “Obtain an IP address automatically”. The DHCP will assign the
right IP addresses both to the PC and to the device.
