APPARATUS:
Beakers (250ml), pipette (20ml), burette (50ml),burette stand, White tile
CHEMICALS REQUIRED:
KMn04 Solution ( Test solution), M/20 Solution of Mohr's salt
INDICATOR:
KMnO, is a self indicator
END POINT:
Colourless to permanent pink colour (KMn04 in burette)
PROCEDURE:
out 20ml of each in a titration
1. Rinse the pipette with M/20Mohr's salt solution and pipette
flask
2. Rinse and fill the burette with the given KMnO4solution.
the solution in titration flask
3. Add one test tube (nearly 20 ml) full of dilute sulphuric acid to
4. Note the intial reading of the burette
is imparted to the
5. Now add KMn0,solution from the burette till a permenent light pink colour
solution un the titration flask on addtion of last single drop of KMnO4solution
6. Note the final reading of the burette
7. Repeat the above steps 4 to 5 times to get a set of three concordant readings
VOLUMETRIC ANALYSIS
Aim:_To prapare M/20 solution of Ferrous ammonium sulphate(Mohr's salt )& to determine the
Molarity and strength of given potassium permanganate solution by using M/20 soution of
Ferrousammonium sulphate (Mohr's salt).

Weight of Mohr's salt (W,-Wi) = 4.9 g
APPRATUS:
Watch glass, weight box, fractional weight box, 250 ml beaker, glass rod, 250ml measuring flask
& wash bottle.
CHEMICALS REQUIRED:
Mohr'ssalt, Conc.H2S04 & Distilled water
PROCEDURE:
1.Weight the clean and dry watch glass & recoed it's weight in the note book.
2.weight accurately 4.9 g of Mohr's salt crystals on the watch glass &record the weightin the note
book.
3.Transfer carefully the weighted Mohr's salt from the watch glass into a clean 250 ml beaker.
Add to this beaker about 5 ml of Conc.H2S04 to check the hydrolysis of the ferrous sulphate.
4.wash the atch glass thoroughly with distilled water to transfer the sticking salt completely into
the beaker.Dissolve the salt in the beaker with gentle stirring.
5. Transfer the entire solution carefully into 250 ml measuring falsk through afunnel.
6.Wash the beaker with distilled water and transfer the washings into the measuring flask.
7.Add enough distilled water to the measuring flask carefully upto just below the etched mark on
it's neck with the help of wash bottle.
8.Add the last few drops distilled water with a pipette until the lower level of the meniscus just
touches the mark on the measuring flask.
9.stopper the measuring flask and shake it gently to make the solution homohgeneous and label it
as M/20 Mohr's salt solution
OBSERVATIONS:
1.Volumne of Mohr's salt solution prepared = 250 ml
2.Molarity of Mohr's salt solution = M/20
3.Volume of Mohr's Salt solution taken for each titration = 20 ml
