Dear Students: We hope you all enjoyed your CWW experience and that you have taken away with you a deeper appreciation for your classmates and the community you served. Lets keep the spirit of team building and service alive! There are a number of ways to make a difference and contribute your time, energy and talents. What route will you take? What service learning activity can you get involved in? This week during assembly you will hear about course offerings for next school year. Please listen carefully to the information. Starting on Monday, March 5th, course registration will begin. We advise you to speak to your parents about your elective choices. If you have any questions about course choices, please talk to Ms. Van Der Merwe or Mr. St. Laurent. Have a great week ahead! Sincerely, Mr. Gillespie and Ms. Sayson

SUMMER LANGUAGE STUDY

The International School Manila Modern Language Department is pleased to announce its 2012 Summer Language Study / Home-stay / Travel Program to Spain. This program is for students 14 years of age or older as of June 1st. It aims to develop students language proficiency and to broaden their cultural knowledge. This program is being offered in cooperation with Tandem (http://www.escuela-montalban.com/index.php). We will spend three weeks at the Granada campus and one week at the Madrid campus. Students will continue learning and more importantly practicing Spanish through total immersion in classes and during the home-stay. The Tandem school finds families for students to stay with, assists in locating appropriate local resources for the groups activities, plans outings, maintains a list of local medical and emergency resources, and helps with the orientation for group leaders. Students will receive Spanish classes each morning that include language and culture subjects and prepare students for cultural visits. The cultural program will take place in the afternoons/evenings and will be made up of various supervised activities that take advantage of the unique environment while taking into account the individual interests of the students. Cultural activities include things such as preparing paella, guided tours of historical buildings, towns and museums, watching flamenco dancing, visiting hot water springs, beach trips, horseback riding, etc. The dates of this trip will be approximately June 2nd 30th, 2012. If you are interested, please contact Jennifer Diaz (diazj@ismanila.org) to receive more information. Students and parents interested in this trip to Spain should plan to attend an informational meeting at 5:30 on Wednesday, February 29th.
