Three Feathers

Once upon a time there was a girl who was married to a husband that she never saw. And the way this was, was that he was only at home at night, and would never have any light in the house. The girl thought that was funny, and all her of her friends told her there must be something wrong with her husband, some great deformity that made him want not to be seen. One night at their small house, the girl asked her husband. Why wont you let me see your face, dear? asked the girl. You dont need to see my appearance to love me, do you? said her husband wisely. Well, Im just curious. I want to see those eyes that love me so much... May I turn on the light, now? answered the girl. NO! STOP THIS CONVERSATION! her husband yelled and left her. The girls curiosity made her to spy her husband at dawn, when he usually left for work. One day, she woke up early and heard some noises at the kitchen. She stalked to the kitchen and stood behind the curtains. When the sun started to rise, slowly she could see his husband appearance. She was so shocked that she nearly fell on the ground when she saw her husband. Her husband transformed from a human-bird like into a white dove. Then her husband flew outside through the window and left his three soft white feathers. The girl nervously took the three feathers and kept it in a box. After that, she did her daily activities. When the night came, she prepared the dinner and waited for her husband to come home. A few minutes later, she heard the door opened and there her husband was, invisible in the darkness. After they had finished their meal, the girl confronted her husband about the dawn incident. Honey, I know what you are said the girl. Really, what I am? answered the husband calmly. You are a human and bird hybrid, and at day time you transformed into a dove, said the girl carefully. Oh, now that youve known what I really am. You may turn on the light. But I must leave you now, answered the husband then lit the light so that the girl could see him clearly. What? No! No, no, no! I love you just the way you are! I was shocked at first, but I dont really care about that right now! Dont leave! cried the girl. Listen, honey, I was a prince who was cursed to be a human-bird and sent by the gods to protect you from any harm. So I became your husband. But theres one condition, that is I must not show my human-bird appearance to you. You are hunted by a giant who wants to eat you right now.

The reason why I left everyday was to fool the giant to not to come here. Now that youve known me, Ive broken the promise. I must leave you, explained the husband. Wh What? But, if you leave, who will protect me? said the girl. You found my feathers, right? Use them to kill the giant. Now I must go. Goodbye, my lovely wife, and good luck, her husband transformed and flew. Not long after her husband had left, she heard big footsteps outside the door. That must be the giant, she thought. She grabbed the feathers quickly and ran away. The giant sensed the girl then chased her. When the giant was near the girl, she blew one feather. The feather turned into a fog that made the giant confused to locate the girl. The giant escaped the fog and chased the girl again. The girl flew the second feather. The feather then turned into a cactus wood where the giant was stabbed everywhere by the thorns. The giant screamed and pulled the thorns. It gave the girl time to run faster. Unfortunately, the giant finished pulling the thorns and chase her once again. The giant who was very angry let out all his strengths to chase the girl. The girl was so afraid because the giant was very near now. The girl hurriedly blew the last feather. The last feather turned into a familiar white dove, her husband. The dove blinded the giant and brought his army of eagles to kill the giant. Finally, the giant died. The mission of the girls husband was finished to protect her. He transformed back into a handsome prince. The prince got back to his wife and brought her to the castle. They continued their happy life and love each other unconditionally until the end of time.
