Lesson 1&2 Objectives of the lesson:

Story: Satellites
Brainstorming:
Students will go through the illustrations of the story and
by using their thinking skills they will predict what the story
is going to be about. They will watch a power point
slideshow related to satellites which will further encourage
them to think about the satellites.

part of discussion:
1. What jobs do you think satellites do in space?
2. What do you think satellites tell us about the Earth?
3. If you had to build a satellite, what parts would it
need?
4. Why do you think satellites have solar panels?
5. Have you ever used something that works because
of a satellite, like GPS or a weather app?
Reading
The students will take turns to read the story out loud with
their peers. Each student will be asked to come towards the
speaker’s corner when it is their turn to read. The teacher
should ask questions after every couple of pages to make
sure that the students are completely involved, attentive
and do not have any confusions about the story.

Reading
The students will take turns to read the story out loud with
their peers. Each student will be asked to come towards the
speaker’s corner when it is their turn to read. The teacher
should ask questions after every couple of pages to make
sure that the students are completely involved, attentive
and do not have any confusions about the story.
Teacher’s questions:
1. What do you think of when you hear the
word "machines"?
2. Can you name some machines you see every
day?
3. How do you think life would be without
machines?
Comprehension questions:
1. This poem mentions the jobs that different
machines do. Using the pictures to help you, write
down which machines you think Wes Magee means
when he says:
a. one hoovers the house
b. one dries your damp hair
c. some roar down the road
d. some orbit in space
e. one ticks in the hall
The teacher will provide cut pieces of the following images
to every student and they will paste the specific image of
the machine in front of their answers.
2. Write down all the machines you can think of that
might ‘hum while you sleep.’

Topic: Respect
Brainstorming:
Students will watch power point slideshows based on the concept
of what ‘respect’ means and how can we show respect to others.
Follow-Up: After watching the slideshows, brainstorm
further by asking relevant questions discussing descriptive
words or phrases (e.g., valued, may I help you? generous,
polite, being patient etc) that they can use in their poem.
Teacher questions:
1. Why is it important to show respect to others?
2. Can you think of a time when someone showed you
respect? How did it make you feel?
3. How can we show respect at school, at home, and in
our community?
4. Why is it important to believe in yourself and your
abilities?

Lesson 5&6 Objectives:
Creative Writing Students will be able to:
1. Differentiate between fiction and non-fiction.
2. Engage their imagination to create a story based on
the given topic
3. Use new vocabulary words in their story writing.
4. Express their thoughts with an illustration.
Topic: The Indian snake charmer
Explanation:
A young snake charmer named Ravi lives in a colorful
village in India. Ravi has a magical flute that can charm
snakes to dance and sway. But one day, a mischievous
cobra named Naga steals the flute and hides it deep in the
jungle! Without his flute, Ravi can't perform at the village
festival.
. How will Ravi use his cleverness and kindness to find Naga
and get his flute back?
. What adventures will he have along the way?
. How will he learn that even the most unlikely friendships
can solve big problems?

Brainstorming:
Students will watch a short film on ‘a snake charmer living
in the jungle,’ which will encourage them to organize their

the given VTR to jot down their thoughts. This will further
help them construct the story:
Students will illustrate a scene related to their fiction story,
in their copy.
Lesson 7&8 Students will be able to:
Grammar 1. understand the concept of collective nouns
2. Use the concept of collective nouns correctly in
sentences
Brainstorming:
The teacher will show a power point slideshow discussing
about various types of collective nouns.
Hands-on learning experience:
After watching the slideshow and having a discussion on
the concept of collective nouns, students will fill in the
crossword puzzle displayed on the white board. The teacher
will give turns to maximum students to come on the board
and answer.
This will enhance their knowledge on collective nouns even
more.
