Design portfolio requirements

1. Case study 1. 2 nos. Case studies required (Can be live or Literature anything)
1. Study of resort (Rooms design & site Planning)
2. Study of Yoga Center & Spa
2. One A1 size sheet for one case study including – location
details, Architect, site planning, connectivity, architectural
drawings with analysis, photos with learnings, Material used,
architectural style used, construction details, SWOT analysis,
Learnings and outcomes.
2. Site Analysis 1. One A1 Size sheets including following requirements: -
1. Site with contours (Color representation) – Scale 1:500
including site area and dimensions, Section – Scale
1:500 including contour levels.
2. Site context – surroundings architectural analysis (Type
of buildings, locations, Landmarks
3. Road Network – Road's map showing types of roads
4. Traffic Analysis Map during Morning, Evening and Night
5. Climate study – Only map showing sun path and wind
direction (Graphs not required), shading analysis during
summer, winter and rainy season.
6. Vegetations on site and in surroundings – Type of trees
7. Site photos or site surrounding sketches
3. Reasearch, Concept and 1. Research topic – refer design brief and select any one south
zoning Indian state to study its traditional architectural style and
community. The study should include the following points: -
1. About the selected state – location map, importance,
overview, footfall, total districts, communities available,
type of art & craft, type of Performances
2. About Traditional Architecture (any two case examples)
– Information about the architectural style used,
planning, materials, elements, etc.
2. Concept – as per design brief student either must take concept
of Preserving the architectural style (Traditional Concept) or
Innovation in the architectural style (Modern Concept) -
accordingly the use of any architectural style to be shown by
the conceptual sketches
3. Zoning – The process of design evolution can be shown as a
progressive work with bubble diagrams, zoning or in sketches.
4. Form Development on Contour site plan with clusters block model is required to
contour site - Study/ Block understand the form development

5. Site Plan with Roof- (Scale Rendered Site plan with roof should include: -
1:250) 1. Roof plan with levels (Height from Ground level) of roof and
building nomenclature, Show arrows in case of sloping roof
2. Contour levels
3. Roads and pedestrian pathways – width and the nomenclature
4. Vegetations – trees, planters, grass, etc.
5. Entry – exit signs, car parking, security cabin if required,
Entrance gate, compound wall
6. Site section line
6. Site Plan with Ground Rendered Site plan with ground floor plan should include: -
Floor- (Scale 1:250) 1. Double line Ground floor plan with levels (Height from Ground
level) of plinth and building nomenclature
2. Show roof and chajja line in dotted
3. Contour levels
4. Roads and pedestrian pathways – width and the nomenclature
5. Vegetations – trees, planters, grass, etc.
6. Entry – exit signs, car parking, security cabin if required,
Entrance gate, compound wall
7. Site section line
7. Site Section (Scale 1:250) Minimum 4 site sections required -
1. Double line sections with human figures, trees
2. Heights to be mentioned properly – to each building and
contour heights
3. Space nomenclature inside the building section and building
nomenclature at the bottom or top of the building section to be
shown
8. Detailed Plans, Sections, Detail 1 – Administration area
elevations (Scale 1:100) Detail 2 – Amenity Space – Recreational space/Performance space
or Prayer Space/Gazebo
Detail 3 – Yoga Center/ Meditation Center or Spa or Restaurant
Detail 4 – Accommodation area – any three from given typologies

All the above details should include: -


1. One plan with levels, plinth (stairs or ramp), space
nomenclature, furniture, door, windows, chajja and roofline
2. 2 sections with levels (Heights), space nomenclature, human
figure, trees, roof & truss (as per design), ground line
3. 2 Elevation with levels (Heights), Trees, ground line
4. 1 isometric view or axonometric view or sketches
9. Final Model (Scale 1:250) In detail on scale model – showing the design with material used,
trees, pathways, etc.
10. Interesting features/ Material used
Construction Details. Construction details (Roof, column, joineries, etc.)
11. Services – Water Supply, 1. Plan showing location of water tank and its connection to the
Drainage Layout and building
Rainwater Harvesting. 2. Plan showing septic tank and its connections with the location
of inspection chambers
3. Plan showing rainwater harvesting procedure
