CONVERSATION 2B
TASK 02
Student´s PPT
What´s your personality?
Let´s start with some quick questions …
• Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
• Are you optimistic or do you tend to be pessimistic?
• Are you a “morning lark” or a “night owl”?
Let´s check some vocabulary …
• Are these words positive? Negative? Neutral?
Discuss with your partner(s).
hardworking messy easy-going shy
impatient responsible talkative
sociable curious untidy creative
lazy smart bossy lazy
Some questions about you …
• How would you describe your personality using five words?
• Can you mention two negative aspects of your personality?
• Which of your personality traits do you like the most?
• Do you take after your mother, father or grandparents in terms of
personality?
Choosing your studies …
• Do you think a person should choose what to study considering
his/her personality?

studies that suits you?

Looking for the perfect job …
• Now that you know what careers (Health careers, Performing Arts or Business,
Administration and Hospitality) “match” your personality, has your opinion
changed? Do you think people should choose their career based on personality
traits? Or should they choose basing their decision only on what they like/want?
• Being “hardworking”, “innovative” and “team player” are characteristics that all
companies/organisations consider desirable in an employee. What about
“ambitious”, “competitive” and “risk-taker”? Are they negative? Or are they
positive for certain kinds of jobs? Which?
Men are from Mars, Women …
In 1992 John Gray published this book, which quickly
became a bestseller: the classic guide to understand
the opposite sex. One of the differences he
mentions is that women want men to listen to them
while men want to solve problems, which causes
communication difficulties.
• Today, many people agree that men and women
are very different, for example in the way they
shop. What´s your opinion on this?
• Can you list other differences between men and
women that you have observed?
• Do you think that identifying the key differences
between men and women can help improve
relationships?
An endless debate…
Inherited or acquired?
• Read the information and work in groups. You´re going to prepare
arguments to defend your position. Think about reasons and examples to
support your ideas.
Some more questions …
• Do you think birth order in a family (the youngest child, the oldest, the
middle child, an only child) makes a difference in your personality?
• What personality traits do you consider important in a good friend?
• What would your ideal romantic partner be like?
• Which characteristics should a good boss have?
• Some people consider that you can really find out things about
someone´s personality from their star sign. What´s your opinion?
• Do you think personality traits vary between countries? (e.g. Are all
French people “romantic”?)
• If you could change any aspect of your personality, what would it be?
