I. Discussion
Our Solar System
The Solar System is our space
family. At the center is the Sun, a
big ball of hot gas that gives us
light and heat. Everything in our
Solar System, including the
planets, moves around the Sun.
There are 8 main planets. They
are divided into two groups: the
small, rocky planets close to the
Sun and the big, giant planets far
away from the Sun.
The 8 Planets
1. Mercury
Closest to the Sun: Mercury is the nearest
planet to the Sun. Small and Hot: It is very
small and gets very hot because it is so close.
No Moons: Mercury does not have any
moons.
2. Venus
Second from the Sun: Venus
comes next. Very Hot: It is even
hotter than Mercury because
thick clouds trap heat. Rocky
Surface: Venus is made of rock,
much like Earth.
3. Earth
Our Home: Earth is the planet
where we live.Water and Life:
It has water, air, and living
things. One Moon: Earth has
one big moon that we can see
at night.
4. Mars
The Red Planet: Mars is known as
the Red Planet because of its
rusty color. Cold and Dry: It is
colder than Earth and very dusty.
Two Small Moons: Mars has two
small moons named Phobos and
Deimos.
5. Jupiter
Largest Planet: Jupiter is the
biggest planet in our Solar
System. Made of Gas: It is mostly
made of gas. Many Moons:
Jupiter has many moons,
including one called Ganymede
that is even larger than Mercury.
6. Saturn
Famous for Rings: Saturn is well
known for its beautiful rings made
of ice and dust. Giant Planet: Like
Jupiter, it is a large gas giant.
Many Moons: Saturn also has
many moons that orbit around it.
7. Uranus
Blue-Green Color: Uranus has a
blue-green color due to the gases
in its atmosphere. Spins on Its
Side: It rotates in a funny way,
almost like it is lying on its side.
Icy Giant: Uranus is called an ice
giant because it has a lot of ice
mixed in with its gases.
8. Neptune
Deep Blue: Neptune is a deep
blue planet. Very Windy: It has
the strongest winds of all the
planets. Farthest from the Sun:
Neptune is the last of the eight
planets and is very far away from
the Sun.
J. Generalization
Did you all understand our topic
children!
Now if you understand what is
this?
Mercury!
Jupiter!
Earth!
Very Good! Children!
K. Aplication
Now I group you into 2 group
because we have an activity
Group 1: Give the 8 planets in
our solar system.
Group 2:
Give me the charachteristic of
the planets
Earth
Venus
Mars
Jupiter
Neptune
Uranus
Mercury
Saturn
To check your Activity we have a
Rubrics to follow.
