II. Things you need to know when
choosing a supplier
A. Samples have arrived
Samples can take anywhere from a few days to over a week
to arrive— get a tracking number from the supplier
Test the sample to see how it stands up against both
positive and negative reviews.
Ask close friends and family for their honest opinions
about the samples.
II. Things you need to know when
choosing a supplier
A. What if None of Your Samples Work Out?
If the product has good reviews on Amazon, we can
assume that the problem is probably your supplier so
get samples from your other potential suppliers.
If the product struggles with negative reviews on
Amazon—some products will never meet customer
expectations, it's better to move on to the next best
product and order samples.
III. Shipping by Air VS Sea
Air vs. Sea: How to Decide?
Use air shipping if your product is small and light (less
than one pound).
Ship by sea if your product is larger or heavier.
You can also ship some of your inventory by air and the
rest by sea, if you are out of inventory and want to start
selling sooner—shipping by air gets your product there
much faster.
III. Shipping by Air VS Sea
Air vs. Sea: How to Decide?
The main differences between air and sea shipping come down to cost,
time, and complexity:
● Cost: Shipping by sea is much cheaper. Shipping by air costs 3–5 times
as much.
● Time: Shipping by sea takes 25–35 days, whereas air typically takes 4–7
days.
● Complexity: Air is usually simpler, because it bypasses the seaports. Sea
shipping requires lots of steps and regulations (although your freight
forwarder can handle that).
III. Shipping by Air VS Sea
Air vs. Sea: How to Decide?
Get a quote for both air and sea shipment and calculate the profitability.
To get an estimate, visit:

calculator-free-freight-tool/
Your supplier will have a recommendation on how to ship, based on your
order so be sure to ask them first.
IV. Inventory 101
A. Take these steps when you are ready to place your order:
- Contact a recommended freight forwarder to get a quote.
- Have these information ready:
a. Shipment details from your supplier (quantity, dimensions, weight,
type of product)
b. Origin (supplier warehouse) and final destination (Amazon warehouse)
c. Your company or personal information
IV. Inventory 101
B. Recommended Forwarder
1. Forest Shipping International Ltd.
www.forestshipping.com

IV. Inventory 101
C. Shipping Overview
1. Place your order with your supplier.
2. Have a freight forwarder contact your supplier to arrange for shipment
(either by air or by sea).
3. When manufacturing is complete, your inventory will be shipped.
4. Inventory arrives at airport/seaport.
5. Freight forwarder handles all customs clearing and notifies you when
inventory is “cleared” and available for delivery to FC.
V. How Much Inventory to Order
Take these factors into consideration when deciding on your initial
inventory:
● The MOQ you were able to negotiate with your supplier
● Your financial capability
● Your tolerance for taking risks (playing safe or grow faster?)
● Your level of confidence in your winning product vs. competition

“Merchant”—you, your supplier, or your inspection/freight forwarder
