Our project systematically approached the “poverty and education gap” dilemma with
different strategies. To begin with, the video that we made served to create awareness in the
audience because it depicted the painful reality of most students from poor families. It was
able to accomplish its intended purpose since it had a wide reach. Furthermore, supporting
the NGO also enabled us to directly improve educational inequity. Working with a known
organization meant that our resources and efforts would be put to good use where they are
needed the most. All these actions helped solve the problem while providing awareness and
practical help in tackling the issue.
Our team was able to divide the work according to each member’s capabilities, thus, working
toward a common goal successfully. For example, some people dedicated their time in the
design of the posters and other members worked on the Instagram page and also the survey.
Hence, the work output was done accurately and without wasting time. Also, we
communicated effectively by discussing the project regularly to monitor progress and any
difficulties encountered. By doing the work together and aiding one another, we were able to
optimize our work output and ensure that every part of the project was effectively completed.
All these aspects enabled us to achieve our campaign objectives on promo.
Managing My Own Work
I handled my work well by observing deadlines and providing useful input to the project. The
video creation process was quite complex, as it required deep research, scripting, and editing
which I did in an orderly fashion. To manage time effectively, I created milestones for the
different stages of video creation, which allowed me to establish a clear workflow. Moreover,
I allowed my team to give me feedback and made changes that would improve the video’s
effects, which demonstrated my flexibility. This aided in executing the task effectively and in
good time with little compromise on quality.
Research on poverty in education showed me just how deep the issue goes at a global level. I
discovered that social constraints are not the only barriers, but social inequality, poor
infrastructure, and even an inactive government help to a great extent. These insights aided
my understanding of how developed and developing countries deal with problems in the
education system differently. For instance, in some countries, poverty causes children to be
forced to work instead of schooling, and in other countries, a lack of money in poor
communities makes education unavailable. Further hearing about personal accounts from
non-governmental organization workers cemented my understanding that systemic changes
are what we really need to make long-term solutions. My worldview expanded after this
research, stressing the fact that
Engaging in this project allowed me to gain insights into the aspects of myself I had yet to
uncover. In the process of shaping the vidéo, I gained new skills in researching, synthesizing,
and captivating audiences. Better yet, I improved my communication skills while working
with the team to ensure our message was impactful, impactful. I also worked on my time
management skills because dividing personal workload with group work required me to plan
strategically. In addition, I learned to value flexibility after I had to edit some of my work
close to the deadline because the team had already provided feedback. In a nutshell, this
project enabled me to grow in various academic and social dimensions.
One key area for improvement is my ability to delegate tasks effectively. While I managed
my individual work well, I sometimes took on too much responsibility, which made it
challenging to balance all aspects of the project. In future group tasks, I will aim to trust my
teammates more and distribute workload efficiently. Another area for growth is proactive
communication. While I contributed ideas, I could improve by seeking feedback earlier in the
process to ensure alignment with team objectives. Finally, I will work on refining my video
editing skills further, ensuring even higher quality production for future projects.
Benefits and Challenges of Teamwork
Collaboration had a variety of advantages, including the equitable distribution of work which
enabled us complete several aspects of the project simultaneously. For instance, as I was
creating the video, other teammates were working on the survey and Instagram page. This
way, all the components were completed simultaneously. We did have some difficulties to
overcome when it came to design poster compromises as well as schedule coordination.
Some people were always free while others had less availability to meet the rest of the group
which led to the delays. Sometimes the group was divided regarding design poster choices
and that led to negotiations. All in all, besides all of these challenges, our collaboration
allowed us to have a successful project in the end.
Our team work would have greatly benefited from a proper framework where we could
assign deadlines. It was great that we managed to get everything completed, but being more
rigid with deadlines would have minimized all the last minute rush. Allocating tasks would
also have been more effective, especially if we divided work based on someone's strengths.
One idea would be to give the more experienced in graphic design the logo tasks. Progress
meetings would have also been great in helping the team ensure that no one was being left
out. These methods would have allowed us to function better as a team and achieve greater
outcomes.
