Overview
 TOEIC Listening Part 2 is not the most difficult section of the TOEIC test, however, it
sometime makes candidates confused. “Therefore, it’s crucial to practice every day and
consider carefully before giving the answer
 After finishing TOEIC Listening Part 1, you will be transferred to Part 2. There are 25
questions in the listening part 2. In each question, you will listen to a question and then
listen to 3 possible responses, Choose the correct response
 You will not be allowed to take any notes during the listening test. Blank answers on the
TOEIC listening test are counted as incorrect answers, so it is always better to guess
when you are not sure of the answer
2. How to Allocate Time in Listening Part 2?
 To complete each question in the TOEIC listening test part 2 succesfully, you can follow
the following steps:
o Step 1: Listen to the question/statement
o Step 2: Listen to 3 responses of the question (A,B,C)
o Step 3: Choose the best response
o Step 4: Take advantage of the 5 second break between two question to look at
the next question
3. Can I Listen to TOEIC Part 2 the Second Time?
 Recordings in TOEIC, test part 2 will be played ONCE only, so listen carefully or you may
miss out the opportunity to give the correct answers. Though you are not certain about
your answer, choose the one which of you think fits best. Your score will not be
deducted for wrong answers
4. Types of Questions for TOEIC Listening Part 2
 What are common types of questions in the TOEIC test part 2?
o Wh-question
Example: When did Paul take off? – A week ago
o Yes/No question
Ex: Has he been here before? – Yes, several times
o Statement
Ex: The boss is waiting for you, - Oh? I wonder what he wants
o Suggestions and Requests
Ex:
Sugestion: How about watching a movie today? –Sure, what do you want to
see?
Request: Could you give me a hand with these boxes? – Of course. Give me a
second
5. Tips and Trick
 Pay attention to words that sound similar but have different meanings
 Pay attention to WH-questions: who, what, when, where, why, how that ask about
information
 Pay attention to questions with question tags that require a Yes/No answer
 Pay attention to questions that still require on answer
 Choose the most appropriate answer quickly. If you are in doubt, do not leave the
answer sheet blank because there are no points deducted for wrong answers

 Travel and Transportation

7. Typical Student Problems with TOEIC Listening Part 2
 Most student issues with TOEIC Listening Part 2 have as much to do with the format of
the test as with actual problems with language. Many students would have no problem
doing this part of the test if they had limitless time, were doing this part of the test on
its own and/or could read the prompts and answers
 However, in reality many find it challenging due to the rapid speech, short gap between
questions in which to decide on hand write down an answer, and having 30 of these
questions in quick succession in the middle of a pretty long and tiring test
