Rumba- an Afro-Cuban song and dance music that is polyrhythmic and is natural and spontaneous in its movements 3. Merengue- is well known vocal and dance music that was adapted from the Dominican Republic . 4. Tango- emerged at the end of the 19th century from Buenos Aires 5. Salsa- musical style that was developed in New York City by the urban Caribbean Hispanics. Latin American musical instrument Percussion Instrument 1. Maracas- pair of dried gourds with wooden handles. They are played by shaking. 2. Claves- pair of round, hard-wood sticks that are tapped together.
