Based on the short story, The Palace of Mysteries that I read, there are the personal response that

i can get. The Palace of Mysteries by Zaharudin Pilus was a story about the historical of Perak. The setting of this story was in Perak. Most of the story was about the historical and what happened when British came to Perak. Our warriors fighted with them to save our beloved country.If not we cannot reached all the oppurtunity and things and like what we had rowadays. The themes for this story is our true love to our country. The story began with Pak Untol was calling by Penghulu Umars house. Pak Untol whos mid-60 s, he still capable of doing manual work and hardworking too. After arrive at Penghulu house, Penghulu told Pak Untol that Dahaman sons Azman wanted to stay in assistant residents palace by the forest with his family and Azman wanted the garderner to clean the palace.Pak Untol sugessted Pak Malau as he does not have a house and live at Mat Arshad orchard. Two weeks later, Azmans family move to the palace and look around. Mak Senah started to story about the ruler of Perak which the price who is apprinted as the Raja Muda or Tengku Mahkota will succeed the rulling sultan after his death and about the Palace. Nora learn a lesson from the story that she know, the malays woud only unite when the situation became desperate.They would forget their personal differences to face the enemiy who tried tho challenge their integrity and peace. For British, their effort to spread their influence to the Malay State because they understad them. When Nora heard about that, Nora wanted to explore more about the Palace and looking for something even her mother do not allowed it. Nora went to the basement and she went going back,someone make she scared. He is an old man He had been hiding in the Palace for such a long time without meeting anuone and without food and drink. At The next

morning Nora went to the basement and gave food for the old man. The old man asked Nora who her great-grandfather and Nora said Panglima Awang Perang. The old man started told a true story about the Palace. The old man started his story.The old man was involved in struggle againts colonialism. The old man told all the story which Awang Parang betrayed them. Nora cannot beleived it and she asked how about Mat Tahir. Lastly the old man told that he is Mat Tahir Nora felt sad with the died of her father and she do not expect her father could do like that. Based on the novel, I can learn something that important and hope all the Malaysian peole will love our country with true heart.
