I have observed the following machinery in Factory:-

Wire saw machine High speed gang saw machine Epoxy machine Resin Line Automatic Line polishing machine Edge Cutting machine Flaming machine Hoists

It is an Integrated Granite Plant with all the facilities to process granite block into a finished product. Through Company Booklet and website I could know that the plant was setup in 2004 in Hosur in 30 acres of land. It was great to learn that all the machinery was imported from Italy, Germany & France. Granite:- Granite is formed by solidification of liquid magma under the pressure of earths crust. It is composed of Feldspar, Mica, Quartz and other minerals making it one of the hardest stone in the world. Granite resists wear & tear applications remarkably well, making it ideal for interior and exterior flooring. Manufacturing Process:Rough Blocks from the quarries are transported to factory with block number painted on the block, which is actual serial no of block from the respective quarry. We have around 19 own quarries at different locations in India. S. I hope, I have listed all our own quarries, if anything is missing, kindly update me about the same. After Taking gross measurement at factory, blocks are inspected for any natural defects like patches, cracks and are then marked for dressing. Depending upon the block size and gang saw trolley size, block are dressed either 2 sides or 4 sides as per the requirement, so that it can properly sit in the trolley. These blocks should not have any movement in the gang saw trolley for which they are properly cemented at the bottom otherwise there is chance of blades getting damaged or slab my break. Blades without seam are adjusted in Tierods and griped. According to the requirement of thickness either 2 cm, 3 cm spacers of corresponding size are placed in between the blades and are stiffed/tightened with hydraulic pressure. We import grit from Italy which is actually used for cutting the block as the same is mixed in liquid and water jet is sprayed over the cutting surface. After the Gang saw, slabs are moved out using hoist and are inspected for Bow and Step. These slabs are then sent for Grinding so that the front surface is even with textures. We use water as lubricant while grinding activity. After the slab is grinded then it is moved to resin line dossing machine and temperature is raised to 35 to 47 degree centigrades for a period of 45 minutes to 2 Hrs depending upon slab thickness. By raising temperature we are actually drying our slab and making it ready for epoxy coating. As a dry slab can actually have a good bond with epoxy, otherwise we may not have a good adhesive epoxy layer over the slab. After the slab is completely dry we lay epoxy on the slab. Temperature would be maintained for 45 Minutes to 2 hours depending upon the slab thickness. Then we wait for 24 hrs so that the slab with epoxy layer is placed outside and allowed to cool with room temperature. Now the slab has good strength and hardness with epoxy and also it actually fills all the pours and gaps with itself and making it more even surface. These slabs are placed in Line polishing machine and so that we may have even gloss and flat surface. And later the uneven edges are cut using edge cutting machine. After the slabs are polished & edges are even then they are inspected for various defects and flaws in the Granite as mentioned in the below list. Abbreviations TL WL Defect Thick line White Line

We apply Ager to certain colours to cover-up minute cracks or porus and to match the same with colour or pattern. For colonial cream After Grinding we lay the same outside and wire mesh/net is placed and epoxy is applied so that it enhances its strength. And later on the process is same as for rest of Granites.
