Company Overview

Pacific NorthWest LNG Ltd. (“PNW”) is a proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) liquefaction and export facility
on Lelu Island within the District of Port Edward on land administered by the Port of Prince Rupert. The facility,
representing an investment of $9 to $11 billion, would export natural gas produced by Progress Energy
Canada Ltd. (“Progress”) in northeast BC. PNW and Progress are owned by PETRONAS of Malaysia, a global
leader in LNG. With almost 200 employees in Western Canada, Progress and PNW are committed to building
a work environment where talented and dedicated professionals find challenging and rewarding opportunities
as they help craft a bright new future for Canada’s energy market.

As part of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED), and to build Canadian LNG engineering expertise, PNW
will hire a Canadian-based team of engineers who will be temporarily embedded with the FEED contractors
(London, UK or Rome, Italy) over the next one to two years. Following completion of the FEED work and
awarding of the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning work, the team of engineers will be
mobilized to the PNW’s Vancouver office or at the site in the Prince Rupert area.

Candidates must be legally eligible to work in all specified countries and employment will be subject to
obtaining necessary work permits or visas according to current immigration eligibility requirements.

The Role

Pacific NorthWest LNG Ltd. is currently recruiting for Rotating Equipment Engineers. The ideal candidates will
be responsible to manage engineering activities for PNW which involves conceptual and feasibility studies,
Front End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed design engineering, procurement, construction and
commissioning phases of the project. Incumbents will provide the most comprehensive engineering packages
so as to achieve an optimum, safe, operable and reliable plant as well as timely completion of engineering
work to meet the overall project schedule, cost and quality. The ideal candidates will be responsible for leading
and supporting the project team with advice and recommendations on rotating equipment engineering issues
for successful execution of the project.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Our Rotating Equipment Engineers will be passionate about the development of the LNG facility, assisting in
the following areas:

• Develop, review and provide guidance for OWNER and contractor project team in Rotating Equipment/
Machinery engineering & design specification and scope and project engineering cost estimation to
ensure it is justified and fit-for-purpose, compliance with applicable design engineering codes and
standards, project specifications, statutory and regulatory requirements taking into consideration
technical integrity, cost, schedule, constructability, operability and maintainability i.e. in full compliance
to project & plant changes requirements
• Assist with all Rotating Equipment engineering and design activities through collaboration with other
engineering disciplines to ensure smooth, flawless and excellence execution of projects
• Help establish the scope of work and man-hours estimates for engineering studies and projects so as
to ensure effective usage of project resources, cost effectiveness and timely delivery of projects
• Perform design calculations and generate technical inputs in the preparation of bid proposals
• Provide technical evaluation of proposal from Bidder during Project Tendering Process through
technical clarifications, site visit and close liaison with the respective bidders as well as discipline
engineers to ensure project requirements are met
• Conduct the quality control of engineering design on engineering deliverables through activities such
as reviews by third parties to ensure compliance with applicable design engineering codes and
standards, project requirements (HSE, HAZOP, EIA, QRA, etc.), statutory and safety requirements
• Develop and maintain project engineering procedures and collect the knowledge for Rotating
Equipment functions to ensure alignment with industry best practices and meet all the prevailing
industry and corporate Standards and Guidelines, such as PETRONAS Technical Standards (PTS)
• Foster and sustain effective working relationships and rapport with the government authorities
• Compliance to statutory and legislative requirements
• Communicate, interpret and champion the execution of the objectives and provisions of the Health,
Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and Code of Business

Required Education, Experience and Skills

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required


• 7 – 10 years in oil and gas sector gained through a combination of design-office and site experience
working with large turbo machinery
• Knowledge of the interaction with other engineering disciplines and fields of work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Proficiency in the planning and control of work in a multi-project, deadline driven environment.
• An understanding of applicable regulatory requirements in international markets.
• Extensive knowledge of a variety of standard engineering methods, technologies and computerized
design techniques
• Desire to work globally
• Must be able to function in complex and matrix environments
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with all levels of individuals is essential
• Ability to prioritize work and strong organizational skills
• A strong initiative; proactive approach to problem solving
