1. People Struggle
Along with the title Iskolar ng Bayan is the responsibility to stimulate the development of the youth to become critical and involved, to continuously unite with the people, and to challenge the status quo to advance the rights of the marginalized sectors. The Peoples Struggles Committee envisions involved, pro- active, vigilant and critical UP students that will collectively stand and lead not only on students issues but also on the issues of the various sectors of our society.

This committee stands as the vanguard of the democratic rights of all the basic sectors in the UP Community. CRAW envisions a UP studentry who is empowered, educated, active, and responsive to the burning issues of the community.

To achieve the University Student Councils aim to involve students through the activities and campaigns that we offer, we must first make students feel that they belong to the UP community. All of which begins during freshman year. That is why it is essential to have a committee which is dedicated to providing efficient

services for the freshmen to assure them that there are constant efforts to keep them in the know and to help them embrace the UP culture.

4. Gender
The purpose of the Gender Committee in the University Student Council (USC), is to serve as a medium of EQUALITY and NONDISCRIMINATION in the university. The USC Gender Committee, which is a special standing committee, shall spearhead series of campaigns, programs and activities concerning gender and sexuality in the interest of the promoting gender equality and empowering women and LGBTs in the university and society.

5. Committee on Organizations, Fraternities and Sororities


This committee serves as the liaison between the USC and all the organizations, fraternities, and sororities (OFS) in UP Diliman. It shall unite with the OFS in upholding their rights and responding to their concerns collectively. It organizes activities and programs that not only develop the skills of OFS members but also encourage participation in campaigning for issues concerning the university and the nation.

6. Committee on the Culture and the Arts This committee will provide creative tools to deliver programs and activities to the university and its different communities. This aims to strengthen and promote our identity as students of this university and as Filipinos, to re-establish our cultural heritage, and to promote all the talents. 7. Basic Student Services
The Committee on Basic Students Services is tasked to attend to several non- academic needs of students such as housing, loans and scholarships, counseling, food service, health service, and tutorial/learning centers. The services catered by the university to the students have immense effect on students performance, academically and non-academically. The university has the responsibility to give not only quality education but also quality services to the students.

8. Sports, Fitness and Health Committee

The UP Diliman USC, being the student leaders of the premier state university, must be the one to initiate activities related to physical health and fitness since the concern for these two are growing nowadays. To become more relevant, such activities should promote leadership, and political awareness, and involvement. Furthermore, the USC should encourage the whole UP Community to support and be proud of the UP Varsity Teams.

9. Special Events The committee that renders useful and beneficial as a strong, marketing, and promotional arm and strives for more collaboration within and among the committees of the USC and with other organizations and collective groups within the university for the direct benefit of the student body. 10. Environment
The committee aims to integrate the different aspects and advocacies of environmentalism from various fields and groups in the university. It also aims to increase the involvement and awareness of the students and the rest of the UP Community.

11. Students Legal Aid and Action Center


This committee is designated to preserve and ensure the rights and concerns of the studentry under the law, both within and outside the University. It is also tasked with advocating the rights and legal interests of the students.

One of the main thrust of the USC is to instill consciousness and educate the students on issues of national and local concern. It is therefore a necessity to have an arm focused on education and research. This committee is responsible for the continued education of the students through adequate research.


As mandated by its constitution, the USC has the task to defend the rights and welfare of the University. Thus, the STRAW committee will serve as the vanguard committee within the USC that leads various forms of campaign in order to forward the interest of the students.
