1.

Prerequisites to obtain a Class A gas fitter certificate of qualification An applicant for a Class A gas fitters certificate of qualification must meet the requirements of the Safety Standards Act and applicable regulation:
1.1 An applicant for a Class A gas fitter's certificate of qualification must have held a

class B gas fitter's certificate of qualification for a minimum of 2 years.


1.2 Have successfully completed training in a gas fitting program recognized by a

provincial safety manager,


1.3 Pass an examination for that class of certificate.

Scope of class A gas fitter certificate of qualification A class A gas fitters certificate of qualification shall entitle the holder, while employed by a gas contractor, to:
2.1 A class A gas fitter certificate of qualification entitles the holder to perform the

installation or alteration of any gas system, except vehicle fuel systems, under an appropriate permit.
