Overview of the Learning Environment
A learning environment, traditionally called the classroom, is a space in a school
that supports student learning. It is a self-contained area where teacher teaches
and children [Link] the classroom are chairs or tables for students and a front
table for the teacher. This a traditional face-to-face [Link] often the
students should face the teacher as the chairs are arranged that way. But as
teaching deliveries changed to enhance learning, modification in the seating
arrangement evolved and more opportunity for the learners to move about for
cooperative learning was addressed.
A conducive learning environment should have the following characteristics:
Flexibility-There is opportunity to have small groups, movable walls.
Openness-Learning comers/areas which could be shared.
Access to resources-Audio-visual materials are ready and open for use.
Physical classroom-Space is clean and safe.
Psychological atmosphere-It is friendly and accommodating.
The classroom climate nurtures the intellectual, physical, social and emotional
development the students.
Here are some specified strategies for developing the optimal classroom [Link]
may consider these.
1. Learning environment addresses both physical and physiological needs of the
students security and order, love and belonging, personal power and
competence. and fun
2. Create sense of order For example, teacher should teach students how to
enter the classroom and become immediately engaged in the activity;
distribute and collect materials;
find out about missed assignments due to absence and how to make up for
them
get the teacher's attention without disrupting the class and
arrange desks, tables quickly and quietly for various purposes.

and celebrated.
Both approaches, either the traditional face-to-face or online, lead to positive results
but in different ways,so usually in practice both approaches are combined.

What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning
environment in
the following conditions: (not required to answer)
1. Bulletin Board Display
2. Small Group Discussion
3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom (i.e. google meet or zoom)
Learning Environment 1: (not required to answer)
What have you noticed of the display in the class bulletin board? What message ortheme
does it convey?
________________________________________________________________________________
·What makes it attractive to the learners?
___________________________________________________
·Does it help in the learning process?
Leaning Environment 2: (not required to answer)
If the teacher is using a distance delivery of learning through the modules, where ismost
likely the learning space of the students?
_______________________________________________________
Can you describe? _______________________________________________________________________
How can you as a teacher help to make such environment conducive forlearning?
___________________________________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________________________________
The examples above, describe two contrasting situations. The first shows that
the learners are in the same room or space while in the second, the learners
maybe in different learning spaces like homes, study hubs or in extreme cases
parks or under the trees
As a teacher,in which of the two situations would you prefer to manage fo
learning? Choose between Learning Environment 1 or Learning Environment 2.
Explain your choice: Why?
FS 2 | LEARNING EPISODE 05 | THE TEACHER WE
REMEMBER
I chose Learning Environment 1, wherein the learners are in the same
room or space, just like traditional face-to-face classroom it allows
the teacher and the student to interact directly making it easier to
monitor the learners to know whether their need is being catered.
Based on my noticing and analysis, I realized that
a. Actively participating in preparing and maintaining the learning
environment deeply influence the learners.
b. Students learn best when their environment can provide essential
things for their learnings.
c. It is not just the facilities and the teacher that makes up a
conducive learning environment, students are also responsible.
OBSERVE
What probable problem may result from the two situations of the learning
environment?
In a remote or modular learning setup, students may face several problem
like limited access to stable internet connection, lacks of gadgets, poor
study habit, and the absence of direct guidance of he teacher and peer
connection. On the other hand, in face-to-face learning environment, the
students might not be able to focus thoroughly as almost all public
school’s classroom are overcrowded, some classroom also are worn out
and lack of ventilation. These situations may lead to students’ poor
academic performance.
REFLECT
What solutions can I think of to solve the problem?
To address these problems, the best solution for remote or modular setup
is to make offline friendly resource, print out modules. And in order to
solve the face-to-face problem, I will reorganize the classroom to make
more space for the students, make sure that their environment is clean,
tidy, and well ventilated. I will also set up rules to keep things in order.

PLAN
How should I do it?
My plan is to coordinate with the parents of the learners and school heads
to inform them what and why the students need such thing during remote
and modular setup. I will propose to them some alternative way for the
students to continuously learn. On the other hand, in the face-to-face
learning, I’ll start by making the classroom a conducive one. I will make
the room well organized and add learning materials like board display,
resources area.
“My Conducive Learning Environment"
By saying conducive learning environment it actually mean complete
facilities such as libraries for resources, laboratory space like computer
laboratory to develop the digital skill of the student, science laboratory
that help the students to wonder and be curious about things, and ,
gardens that will improve their knowledge about the importance of the
plants also to be responsible, clinics to monitor their health, and
recreational areas foster students' academic growth, emotional health, and
physical well-being is conducive to learning. I believe these are not just
luxuries, these are the keys for the better development of each students.
An environment that will foster future individuals that will make the world
a place worth living in.
But remember, a conducive learning environment does not solely rely on
physical resources. The presence of the teachers who values, loves, and
takes care their students, who motivate and would go extra mile just for
their students to attain their dream plays an equal important role also.
Their kindness, patience, and passion create a classroom atmosphere were
learning becomes enjoyable and meaningful to all learners.
It is not just the teachers, students are also responsible too. By small thing
like cleaning, organizing, and maintaining their surroundings, their
classrooms, the facilities and the tools and equipment that they use it
mirrors not just discipline but also respect for others. it is not just about
the facilities, students also need to participate in class and have a
connection with their peers to develop more. I believe that students do not
only gain knowledge in this kind of environment, they are also developing
their better self, a responsible and respectful individuals.
To make it short, for me, a conducive learning environment for me is one
that is complete in facilities needed by the students. A classroom filled

with caring teacher and students who are determined to learn and thrive.
It is in this kind of environment where students truly learn best.
