Learning Episode 5 “Preparing the Learning Environment: An Overview”

A) Participating and Assist

What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning environment in the
following conditions:
1. Bulletin Board Display
I can help my mentor in setting up conductive learning in Bulletin Board Display by
assessing from decorating or and suggest some lacking information if there’s any for the
improvement of the classroom.

2. Small Group Discussion

I will look for the students and making sure that they are listening to their respective groups
so that they can participate in the activities if the teacher is asking a questions especially those
talkative students.

3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom (i.e., google meet zoom).

I can help my mentor in virtual classroom by taking screenshots so that I have also evidence
of students attendance.

Learning Environment 1:
● What have you noticed of the display in the class bulletin board? What message or theme
does it convey?

⮚ Bulletin board consist of updates from the classroom, school activities and
achievement, and announcement for any upcoming activities.

● What makes it attractive to the learners?

⮚ It makes attractive to the students because of the design and also the upcoming activities
where they are interested to be part of it. And also some information.

● Does it help in the learning process? ___ How?

 ⮚ Yes, it help in the learning process by encouraging them to participate and to be part of the
school achievement.

Learning Environment 2:
● If the teacher is using a distance delivery of learning through the modules, where is
most likely the learning space of the students?

⮚ The learning space of the students will be in their homes. Sometimes they will ask their
siblings or their parents if they have activities that difficult for them to understand.

● Can you describe?

⮚ At home, they will study through their respective room or in the area of their house that they
are comfortable. They will have also a table in order for them to write and answer the
questions without any disturbance.

● How can you as a teacher help to make such environment conducive for learning?

⮚ Suggest the parents that their children must have a comfortable set like a classroom
environment so that they can focus of their study. There should be a schedule for fun
activities for a child so they will get interest in the learning process.

C) Analyze
The example above, describe two contrasting situations. The first shows that the learners
are in the same room or space while in the second, the learners maybe in different learning
spaces like homes, study hubs or in extreme cases parks or under the tress.
As a teacher, in which of the two situations would you prefer to manage for learning?
Choose between Learning Environment 1 or Learning Environment 2.
Explain your choice: why?
⮚ I will choose a face-to-face learning, because the students cannot be disturb while studying. They
can also perform from the activities and the teacher can address immediately to their questions
and any problem they may encounter.
 D) Reflect

Based on my noticing and analysis, I realized that

a. I notice that learning trough online platform is not suitable for the rural areas. In
terms of internet connection, they can’t access from time to time, no signal
sometimes.
b. From my observation, face-to-face instruction is better than any form of online
class.
c. I realized that the students cannot be fully monitor by the teacher and what is the
level of their learning improvement. Some parents tolerating their children and
answering the modules.

OBSERVE
What probable problem may result from the two situations of the learning environment?
⮚ The learning process of different learning environment may affect the level of learnings.
⮚ The problem of internet connections and sometimes the students are disturb when they are using
gadgets.

REFLECT
What solutions can I think of to solve the problem?
⮚ There should be a teachers consultation from the status of the students so that they can assist
what is the problem encountered by the students.
⮚ Parents also are responsible to their children so that they can monitor them when they need some
help.

PLAN
How should I do it?
⮚ Online class is a good way of learning but face-to-face instruction is one of the most convenient
to learn and push them to study. Full face-to-face class must be implemented as soon as
possible so that the students especially from lower grades to senior high school so that they can
focus in studying.

“My Conducive Learning Environment”

As one of the future educator the first thing I do is having a comfortable physical space
where children are able to sit comfortably. Making a good layout in my room. Putting a
bulletin board so that they can see and get excited of the upcoming activities and making
them proud of their achievements. Getting to know the students name as soon as possible, as
well as socialise with their fellow classmates is one of the major components.
The second thing I do is to have a good relationship between the teacher and the students,
were the student's don't hesitate to approach or tell their problem to me because I believe the
teacher is the second mother of the students. By getting some personal things about each
students, I can provide what are their needs and I can show them my care for them. However,
I will set boundaries between the students and me so that they will not abuse it.

The third thing I do is be positive and enthusiastic when teaching. I should give my whole
heart in teaching whatever the circumstances I faced at home. I should

be the one who motivates my students and give them full support. I don't need to threat my
students or punish them just to obey me. I just give them a positive vibes/comments when
teaching. I want to see the students that they are willing to learn and they are participating in
the activities. I don’t want them to feel that there’s a favoritism, I am a type of teacher that
treat students fairly.
