Guidelines for Techno India NJR Institute Faculty Members

Dear Faculty members The following guidelines are to help you in understanding, how to perform the best and be a great educator with a profile decorated by achievements. This document also throws light in expectations which Techno India NJR Institute has from you as a teacher and a very valuable member of Techno NJR family. This document serves to set a baseline of methodologies, activities and work style which needs to be adopted by you to build a great career for yourself and in turn build Techno India NJR institute a renowned institute in coming years. These guidelines if followed will also bring out a leader in you in the field of technology education and will make you stand apart with a respect in the engineering fraternity. Somewhere in distant future you will feel the worth of life which you will live as an educator and live in heart of the students whose lives will be shaped up by you. The guidelines are to make you realise the potential hidden in you and your profession. It will give you a path which if you follow; you will get a small or very basic idea on how the institutions like MIT, Stanford, Oxford and Harvard have turned into great institutions. The same will be used as guidelines by management also for your performance appraisal, revision and rewards. PLEASE BE SURE THAT IF ANY ORGANISATION/INSTITUTE WHERE YOU ARE WORKING IS NOT MAKING YOU FOLLOW SUCH GUIDELINES, THEY ARE NOT BUILDING YOUR CAREER. THEY ARE ONLY PAYING YOU TO PERFORM THE DUTIES FOR THEM. YOU HAVE TO DECIDE WHETHER YOU WANT TO BECOME A PERSON PERFROMING DUTIES LIKE SALARY PAID TEACHER OR YOU WANT TO BECOME A TRUE EDUCATOR AND LIVE A LIFE OF RESPECT. It is hoped that you will not look at short term gains but rather look at future and take a dynamic leadership position in Techno India NJR Institute to take it to next higher level. Please be assured that Techno NJR Management is not looking into you as an employee or salary paid teacher. The management is looking in to you as leaders who will take Techno India NJR Institute to new heights in future and define new levels of technology education. Twenty years from today, Techno India NJR Institute of Technology will be known because of you.

You are expected to follow guidelines and devote yourself to teaching for the development of students, self, department and in turn the development of the institute. 1. Teaching duties towards students Academically you are expected to do the following at your own level :i) ii) iii) iv) v) vi) vii) viii) ix) x) xi) xii) xiii) xiv) Keep the class notes copy/ special notes to clarify the fundamentals in the library or on the Techno India NJR website for the students. Complete syllabus on time Conduct revision classes. Conduct the classes for numerical solving practices Adapt to new information technologies for improvement of teaching in the class and laboratory Build special tools for making your subject simpler and improve the grasping of subject by the students Collect material and distribute to students for making subject/ experiment clearer to the students Ensure that students are gaining knowledge which is needed by the industry Ensure that students are gaining knowledge which is at par with other institutes of Rajasthan, India and International. Use video material or CDs of IITs faculty for your subject to show to your students. Ensure students are able to scores good marks in the university exams. There should be balanced match between scores in mid terms and university exams. Ensure that all the students in the laboratory must be busy and no student should be sitting idle or waiting for something, killing his/ her time. Faculty members are expected to prepare manuals for labs, prepare custom user manuals for the software, equipment, notes on advanced use of instruments. Ensure that laboratories are maintained in good order.

2. Guidelines for improving academic level of department i) ii) Ensure that laboratory experiments are being well in time. Evaluation of experiments/ lab record book must be regular and thorough. Ensure that students have gain knowledge in the experiments. For this, time to time conduct question-answer sessions or conduct viva voce. The management technical team will visit the labs very often and ensure that required steps are taken. Faculty members have to ensure that lab assistants/ teaching assistants have gained good knowledge in the laboratory experiments and prepared their own master laboratory manual about the laboratory experiments with reference data sets. To add the experiments to the existing set of experiments. Deliver extra lectures on new developments in the field Assign some projects to the students and guide them in completing the projects. Help younger faculty members in getting exposure in new fields of research Ensure students are learning new softwares ( Simulation, animation etc) Making students aware of the new technical information resources/ websites/ books Making students aware of the copyright rules.

3. Guidelines for promoting research among undergraduate students and innovation/ industrial design / entrepreneurship i) ii) iii) iv) v) vi) vii) viii) ix) x) xi) Carry out research and publish work that involves students contribution. Publish papers in international journals. Publish papers in national journals. Publish papers in international conferences. Publish papers in national conferences. Encourage students to learn about the latest developments( for example current trends in amplifier design ; new softwares, new programming language) Tie up with industry for projects/ design guidelines Prepare the setup for training the students in Entrepreneurship Setting up of new laboratory Writing books Making students aware of the standards applicable to product

4. Promoting open source software/ develop institutes proprietary software i) ii) iii) Faculty members are expected to search for open source software and make students familiar with them Faculty members are expected to write books, manuals on new open source software Faculty members are to develop new software/ equipment and experimental boards.

6. Make regular and fair assessment of the students. Motivate them to dig deeper into the topics. 7. Guide student project apart from normal final year projects. 8. Conduct special trainings for students, faculty members and other departments 9. Organise workshops/ conferences/ student paper contests. 10. Hold student level debate/ quiz competitions 11. Organize industrial tours 12. Support in employment related activities 13. Be punctual.
