during this time.

37. Two stones are thrown vertically upwards simultaneously with their initial velocities u₁ and u₂
respectively. Prove that the heights reached by them would be in the ratio of u₁² : u₂².

(i) Calculate the time in which the electron would acquire a velocity double of its initial velocity.
(ii) How much distance the electron would cover in this time?

40. Obtain a relation for distance travelled by an object moving with a uniform acceleration in the
interval between 4th and 7th seconds.

41. An object is sliding down an inclined plane. The velocity changes at a uniform rate from 10 cm/s
to 15 cm/s in two seconds. What is its acceleration?

43. The driver of train A travelling at 54 km/h applies the brakes and retards the train uniformly. The
train stops in 5s. Another train B is travelling on parallel track with a speed of 36 km/h. It also
applies brakes and stops in 10s. Plot speed-time graph for both the trains on the same paper.
Which of the trains travelled farther after the brakes were applied?

44. A stone is dropped from a height of 20m.


(i) How long will it take to reach the ground?

45. A car accelerates uniformly from rest to a speed of 20 m/s in 10s. The car is then travelling at
this speed of 5s. After this, the driver applies the brakes and the car decelerates uniformly and
comes to stop in 4 sec. Calculate :

(a) The acceleration of the car during the acceleration phase.


(b) The acceleration of the car during deceleration phase.
(c) The total distance travelled by the car from rest to complete stop.
