Type Structure Examples


Affirmative Subject + am/is/are + Verb- I am reading a book.
ing (+ Object) He is playing football.
They are studying English.
Negative Subject + am/is/are + not + I am not reading a book.
Verb-ing (+ Object) She is not cooking dinner.
We are not watching TV.
Yes/No Question Am/Is/Are + Subject + Am I reading a book?
Verb-ing (+ Object)? Is he playing football?
Are they studying English?
Short Answers Yes, Subject + am/is/are. Yes, I am. / No, I am not.
No, Subject + am/is/are not. Yes, he is. / No, he is not.
Yes, they are. / No, they are
not.
Wh- Question Wh-word + am/is/are + What are you doing?
