Mission Statement To provide parks and recreation programs, services, facilities and beautification to benefit the residents and visitors of the City of Clearwater.

Clearwater has 1,425 acres of parklands, 25 miles of shore land, 5 recreation centers, 1 nature park, and 16 miles of trails

Why Volunteers are Important to Us


We utilize a volunteer workforce to help support programs, facilities and beautification to benefit Clearwater.

More than 2,000 volunteers contributed 46,522 hours of their time to help the Parks and Recreation Department during the last fiscal year.

Every hour that a volunteer gives us is given a dollar value, for last year, the Value of Total Volunteer Time equals
46,522 hours x $21.36*=

$993,710

*Value of Volunteer Time is determined yearly by the national non-profit group, The Independent Sector. The value is based on figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

We have a variety of options.
Volunteer either as an individual or as a group. Your neighborhood can Adopt-a-Park or participate in a Beautification Project.

Adopt-a-Park Program

What is Adopt-a-Park?
It is a partnership with local organizations, to help keep Clearwater safe, clean and beautiful. There are approximately 30 adoptable parks in Clearwater.

Many parks are available for adopting including

What is a community beautification project?


One-time project Open to all organized groups Need at least 2 weeks notice Beach or park areas Recreation Centers Moccasin Lake Nature Park All outdoor projects Year round

All tools and supplies needed

Help remove invasive plant species such as Air Potato Vines or Brazilian Pepper Pick-up trash and debris from various Clearwater parks as well as the beach areas

You will work with trained and knowledgeable staff You will gain valuable experience and learn new skills You will meet new people and make new friends You can volunteer all the time, or every once in awhile If you dont like the first volunteer opportunity you choose, you can try something else We have flexible hours, were open nights and weekends Clean-up projects can be scheduled for during the week or on Saturdays Well provide the tools and water for environmental projects
