Post Description: The post covers engineering management at Kabul Afghanistan International Airport (KAIA) and may be filled by a suitably trained Environmental Protection Officer. The environmental protection officer develops, screens, co-ordinates, submits and implements environmental requirements that are within the in theatre engineer capability. Ensures compliance with NATO's environmental protection requirements, applicable STANAGs, established criteria, austerity, sound engineering practice and assists in future development plans. Principle Duties: Provides functional expertise and advice in the environmental field. Responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer in all KAIA environmental protection issues. Establishes implements and monitors environmental policy across KAIA, implements directives and procedures for, and supervises facility and infrastructure operation. Ensures technical sufficiency and environmental compliance of infrastructure projects to meet minimum military requirements Liaises with NAMSA, ILS and other contractors, NSEs on all environmental-related matters Briefs senior leadership on all above issues Participates in the production, co-ordination and submission of project submission requests providing environmental protection recommendations on infrastructure and resource requirements. Maintains and updates the KAIA environmental database and base survey. Conducts routine reviews, meetings and inspections for KAIA areas, facilities and infrastructure plans, conducts and/or supervises remediation on NATO caused pollution. Monitors remediation on TCN caused pollution. Provides environmental protection inputs and reports to HQ ISAF as required Additional Duties: The incumbent of the post may be required to perform other related duties as directed. Duties are to be performed in a multinational environment.

Essential Qualifications:
Professional/Experience: Experience in either NATO Staff or on national level equivalent to company. Basic user experience of standard ADP office systems Environmental Management involving all activities in overseeing, directing, and controlling programs and subordinate organizations concerned with environmental protection and management. Requires both engineering experience and comprehensive knowledge of environmental issues. Education/Training: Fully trained in all aspects of environmental protection duties. Language: English: Good to Very Good. Note: Both oral and written work in this post and in the ISAF Headquarters is conducted in English. 1

Desirable Qualifications:
Professional/Experience: Previous engineering experience in a multi-national deployed environment. Education/Training: An Engineer graduate with engineering and environmental protection policies experience. Work Environment: The office environment is austere with strong environmental influences due to seasonal extremes of heat and cold and health-related issues during the malaria season. An initial 12 month contract will be offered and contract extensions may be possible. Because of the dynamic environment, ISAF posts are under regular review and therefore post details and responsibilities, including contract duration and contractual grade may change during the contractual period.

Monthly salary of 6,025.00 (Tax free in the host country). Daily Allowance of approximately 78.90 while working in Afghanistan.
