A Physical Inspection
1 Visual inspections for external damages / shortages, if any
2 Install transformer main tank and ensure proper orientation wrt HV / LV
side
3 Clearance between wall / structure
4 Provision of necessary stopper after fixing transformer on rail/foundation
5 Install other accessories viz radiators, wheels, marshalling boxes, HV &
LV disconnecting chamber when supplied loose
6 Tightness of radiator flange connections
7 Topping of oil as required. Caution to be taken to avoid bursting of
explosion vent diaphragm.
8 Releasing of air from Buchholz relay, main tank and radiator.
9 Check the breather condition and reactivation of silica gel, if required.
10 Earthing connection for neutral bushings, transformer body, marshalling
box and LT/HT cable boxes with grid
11 Termination of power & control cables, wires, bus
12 Proper tightness of cable clamps / connecting terminals / lugs
13 Verify phasing arrangement for connection with external lines / cables /
bus duct
14 General cleaning of bushings and inside panels
15 Water tightness of terminal boxes
B Precommissioning Checks
1 Test Oil for BDV
2 Insulation Resistance for HV-E, LV-E, HV-LV, and external cables
3 Ratio, Polarity, Phase relationship Test for
i) Voltage /turns ratio at all taps
ii) Polarity
iii) Vector group
iv) Phase sequence
4 Winding resistance at all taps
5 Magnetic balance test
6 Functional checks on
i) Buchholz relay
ii) Magnetic Oil level gauge
iii) Oil temperature indicator
iv) Winding temperature indicator
7 Oil filtration if BDV found to be lower than 40 kV/mm
8 Calibration of WTI and OTI with proper operation of contacts for alarm /
trip condition
9 Checking of control wiring for all relays, alarms, meters according to
wiring diagram and simulation of relays
10 Checking of tightness of connections
11 Fixing of gaskets in terminal box cover.
