University of Michigan

The University of Michigan is my most favorite college in the world. That is why I choose to study The University of Michigan for my Long Term Project. It is also a very interesting college. With all their sports teams, having good or bad seasons, beating rivals and more. All of their information is good, and it dates back to 1817.

The University of Michigan was established in the year of 1817. The weird thing is, the university started in Detroit. It took four years to build. Unfortunately, the University moved in the next fourteen years to Ann Arbor. That building also took four years to build. The first year in Ann Arbor, there was 2 professors, and 7 students. Also, the University did nit allow women until the year of 1870.

The University of Michigan is made for sports. They were even in the Olympics four times. And everybody knows the rivalry between the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, this rivalry started in 1998. Everybody also know the winged helmet that the wolverines wear in sports, well that winged helmet is one of the most recognizable helmet in the NCAA for most sports. And to think, the University of Michigan was going to have just an ordinary helmet. That is not colorful. The winged helmet has been with the University since 38'. also, the University of Michigan is going to paint #GOBLUE in the Big House on the field. Speaking of the Big House, it is one of the classic fields in the NCAA. It is also made of 440 tons of steel. 31,00 square feet of pure Michigan. Also a 72,000 seat stadium. All of this costs $95,000.00. that is what you call expensive. The University had their first game versus Ohio Wesleyan. They won, gratefully. The University has had 170 consecutive crowds of 100,000+. on a more recent note, every year, the University of Michigan gives a male and female an

award called the Player of the Year. it was a tie for the male player of the year, they were Kellen Russel for wrestling, and Sam Mikulak for gymnastics. For the female player of the year, it was Kylee Bottterman.

The University of Michigan is mostly known for their health system. It has had a couple establishments, one in 1850 when the University of Medical School came out, another one in 1869, for the University Hospital, and there latest establishment was in 1997, for the University of Michigan Medical School. Their motto is Excellence and Leadership in Patience care, research, and education. Their nickname is UMHS. They have staffs of 2,492, for the Academic Staff, and 18,923, for the Administration staff.

University of Michigan is also known for their solar car. The team is made up of 47 students. 40 boys, and only 7 girls. Their main sponsor is IMRA. Some other main sponsors are Ford. The Solar Car is mad up of 5 main parts. A Rear-Wheel Electric Motor for balance and other occasions. Another part is the Front-Wheel Steering, Solar Cells, of course. Also Low Rolling-Resistance Tires, for tires, and lastly, a Light-Weight Carbon Fiber Body for speed. Their Solar Car weighs 320 pounds without the driver. Their battery is Lithium Ion, the Solar Cells are Silicon Cells. The car tires are Michelin, and surprisingly, the top speed of the car is 105 miles per hour.

In conclusion, The University of Michigan is one of the best colleges in the nation. A lot of people with disagree with that opinion, but all that adds up, the University of Michigan is one of the best. And that is why is chose that as my topic. Go Blue.
