Islamabad: May 5, 2012: Chairman, CDA, Engr.

Farkhand Iqbal has said that cleanliness and proper maintenance of the city would be ensured and a Sector wise drive has been initiated for monitoring the improvement and up-gradation. During his visit to Sector F-7 and Blue Area here today, Chairman said that Islamabad has a beautiful infrastructure and landscaping; however, it needs to be maintained to keep the city in tidy condition. He said that necessary maintenance work has been initiated for repair of broken footpaths and missing/broken manhole covers as well as improving the landscaping and green belts. The senior officers of Engineering, Sanitation, Enforcement, Environment and other relevant formations of the Authority were also present during the visit. He said that the monitoring activity would be extended across all the areas of the Capital City and missing facilities would be provided on priority. During his visit to the Blue Area, he said that the hindrances and hurdles on the walk ways and service roads be removed at the earliest to facilities the general public. He also inspected the development work being executed in the Blue Area. He also directed the Enforcement Directorate that all the unnecessary billboards and hoardings from the roads and Avenues be removed as well as the markets to give a pleasant look to the environment of the city. He also directed for removal of the encroachments from the walkways and footpaths of the commercial centers. Removal of encroachments, cleanliness to be ensured: Chairman CDA Islamabad April 15, 2012: Chairman CDA Engineer Farkhand Iqbal said that early redressal of public grievances and problems of the citizens and provision of quality civic amenities is the basic responsibility of CDA for which all out efforts would be made so as to come up to the expectations of the residents of Islamabad. The cleanliness in different areas of the market would be maintained at all cost and strict action would be taken against the officials for negligence in the upkeep of the city. He expressed these views while visiting the sector F-7 here today to inspect the cleanliness and maintenance of the city. He had a round of market, green belts and other adjoining areas and gave instructions to the officials of the concerned directorates. He said that CDA has appointed focal persons to help facilitate the residents and traders of different areas of the city including the Marakiz of the Federal Capital through close coordination for better maintenance and upkeep of the city, He directed the officials to note down and report the issues regarding the respective sector and keep close liaison with the traders welfare associations and the residents for getting their issues resolved. He said that focal person has been assigned to identify the problems / issues especially pertaining to street lights, cleanliness / littering, public toilets, encroachments, sewerage, over flowing gutters, repair / maintenance of footpaths & roads, parking areas, water leakages and illegal constructions. He reiterated that Islamabad has a green character and unique stature of

beauty, which has to be protected at all cost. He said that the appointment of the focal person should ensure effective monitoring and supervision of day to day affairs / issues and help reduce the peoples problems. He said that this would also minimize the number of complainants visiting the CDA Headquarters for their problems.
