13. SUPPLEMENTARY NOTES

14. ABSTRACT The objectives of our project were to demonstrate the use of biodegradable PHA natural plastic for foamed packaging and stretch/shrink film applications. PHA packaging foams and stretch-shrink films were produced and tested for functional performance and biodegradability. Biodegradable PHA foam was made at greater than 15X expansion using a variety of blowing agents. We successfully demonstrated polymer branching and that certain stretch films were suitable for hand stretching. High melt-strength and melt-elasticity PHA polymers were produced using blends of branched, long chain-length PHA polymers with linear PHA polymers.
