Gorelets.

com and The Goreletter

In 2001, Michael A. Arnzen embarked upon a year-long experiment in electronic horror which he called Gorelets: Unpleasant Poems, and created gorelets.com to showcase it. When the series ended, he converted gorelets.com into a home page for his horror creations, and launched The Goreletter in September 2002. The Goreletterwinner of the 2003 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in Alternative Formsis Arnzens free thriceyearly e-mail newsletter for, in his own words, all aficionados of the aberrant, readers of the repulsive, and browsers of the bizarre. The Goreletter is no mere press release. Each issue is jam-packed with poetry, reviews, contests, weird news stories, strange findings from the dim recesses of the Web, and writing prompts to inspire the most deranged of creative minds. The Goreletter is Arnzens contribution to the global horror community, aiding and abetting fans and writers worldwide.

Praise for Michael A. Arnzen

[Arnzens] ingenuity of plot and startling resolutions rival the work of any horror author publishing short fiction... As time passes it will become increasingly obvious that Michael A. Arnzen is a strong and important voice in horror fiction. Cemetery Dance Nobody stabs right to horrors black, ichorous heart quite like Arnzen. Learn from this man. Nathan Rosen, editor of MicroHorror Arnzen could probably find a way to scare us with punctuation. HorrorWorld Michael A. Arnzen, award winning poet and fiction writer, can always be counted on to approach the grotesque and the visceral with wit and, often, compassion...but be prepared: Arnzen doesnt hold back, and his imagery is both visceral and explicit. Star Line ...the craftiest horror writer in the Biz... Arnzen has imagination pouring out of every orifice. D. Harlan Wilson, author of Pseudo-City

100 Jolts:

Amityville, New York, has made two contributions to the world of horror: it is the site of the infamous haunted house, and it is the birthplace of Michael A. Arnzen, master of uncanny prose and poetry. During a brief stint overseas in the US Army, Arnzen discovered a knack for entertaining his fellow troops with tales of horror, so upon returning to civilian life he launched his writing career in earnest. In 1995 he won his first Bram Stoker Award for his novel Grave Markings. It wasnt long before Arnzen earned his Masters degree, followed by his PhD in English from the University of Oregon, where he wrote his thesis on horror and nostalgia in 20th century culture. Arnzen is now a tenured professor and Chair of the Division of Humanities at Seton Hill University, teaching a unique Master of Fine Arts program in Writing Popular Fiction. Arnzen lives near Pittsburgh with his wife, cats and four Bram Stoker Awards, where he writes and dabbles in digital art. He likes all forms of popular culture and the creative arts and pizza.
