4:38 What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? Yes, I try to be more careful and I think weve cut out the semi un-necessaries but still keep a level of luxuries that make us all feel good.
4:54 So youd say this has changed over the last three years? Yes, I think spending has probably gone down a little bit but weve probably retained spending on the higher level, you know the more luxury items and just got rid of the stuff in the middle that you dont really need.
17:58 What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? Im genuinely, I mean I can afford to buy nice things, but Im not extravagant so I tend to be relatively cautious, I dont throw money away. I dont think its changed that much. Ive always been like that really. To keep, to be on the conservative side.
8:21 So the recession hasnt affected you? It has, its made me more nervous. More about pensions and I know more about the future. And whats happening to the money that I have in my

pension, than it has about cash flow. Its not so much about the cash flow now. Its about what my savings and my pension is going to lead to.
28:14 What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? Attitude hasnt really changed in regard to spending. Ive always just been spend what I want when I want, but I dont spend that much money so most of it just goes into saving and travelling.
28:30 And if you were to spend, what would it be on? At the moment, Id probably buy some more clothes
35:21 What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? Ive probably become more frivolous over the last three years Id say. Probably because Ive made more money. Im young, I enjoy spending money, but I will start thinking about spending at some point but not for a couple of years I dont think.
44:37 What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? My attitude towards spending is, as long as you have it and you can pay your bills, enjoy it, enjoy the moment. Just making sure that youve got enough money to pay the bills, so not that I didnt think that before, but I think that a bit more strongly now.

45:12 So would you be happy to go on a shopping spree just as much as you would three years ago? As long as the moneys there.
57:55 What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? Of course, because everyones feeling the pinch. I think more about it.
58:06 Would you still be as likely to go out shopping on the high street as much as you would three years ago? I try, Ive got so many clothes at home, and one does think carefully about do I need another pair of jeans cause the answer is always no and, but thats partly just, you reach the stage when you have so much stuff, Ive got too much stuff so that sort of limits, as well as just not spending so much money because everything costs more

[00:07:09.18] Not really. I kept my job and I did not really reduce my spending no. That is all.
07:21.00 So you're not concerned with the current climate? [00:07:23.16]I am concerned but as long as I have some savings and I'm irrationally optimist anyway so I'm fine. Well, London will recover anyway so I'm not that worried.
17:08.15 What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? [00:17:14.07]Definitely. As a child, you don't know the value of money until you have to work for it yourself so I'd say it definitely has changed cause once getting into work, obviously you know money gets taxed, you get bills, so when it comes to things you just like to do, like going shopping or going out, you have to keep it on a minimum. So spending does reduce, and now things have got harder, you have to make sure you've got some sort of backup for yourself when it comes to spending so I try and keep a control but I try and see my friends as well try to control their spending so I'm kind of a busybody type of person.
[00:26:44.07] What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? [00:26:49.02] Yeah, I think I'm a little bit more frivolous which I need to stop being. I just don't worry about it anymore. I've got a good job and I'm happy there so I don't concern myself too much. But I do think I'm more aware on what my money goes on. A little bit more in control of what I choose to spend my money on.

[00:34:03.23]What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? [00:34:08.05] It hasn't really changed over the last three years. My attitude is, I like spending and so if I see something i like, I'll buy it. Having said that, the public sector is getting more and more difficult to be reassured that we'll haev a job for the next two, three, four, five years so I think in my mind I am beginning to think I should save more.
[00:50:00.04] What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? Yes, I think if I have some disposable money, I'm more likely now to spend it and enjoy it at the time rather than think of putting it to one side.
Why is that? I think because I'm getting older and how much longer is it going to be around so....I think enjoying things a little bit more now.
[00:57:38.06] What is your attitude towards spending and has this changed over the last three years? [00:57:41.08] I've always, I must admit it hasn't really changed. I've always bought value for money. It doesn't have to be cheap but it's always been value for money.
So you'd still go on a shopping trip and not worry too much about money? I've always been concerned if I'm spending money. It's almost my Calvinistic upbringing. If I am spending, it has to be for a reason and that still carries on today.

6:34 Whats your attitude towards spending and has it changed over the last couple of years? Er, yes. I run start up businesses so depending how theyre going and Ive gone through periods where weve been investing and theres been moments where weve actually earned out and really depends where I am in the cycle, the amount of available capital I have or cash I have available. But you know, in terms of spending I dont really run a budget so I spend as I need to and Im fortunate enough to be able to do that.
7:02 And has that changed over the last couple of years? Yes, because Im investing in, I have an interest in a mining company and I have interest also in some property development and theyre consuming cash at the moment, so I guess Im tightening the per strings while Im investing in those until I see them out, in terms of a return.
7:27 So nothing about the current climate? Not really no, Im living in Australia, I lived in Britain for fifteen years but Im now living back in Australia where I originate from and we didnt have a recession, sorry.
15:44 What is your attitude towards spending nowadays has this changed over the last 3 years? It has changed a little bit, it has changed a little bit, Ive seen the change in my friends and things of that nature and you have to be a little bit more frugal, yes ok fine its fun to go out and party and things of that nature but I think everyones conscious of what could be around the corner so to that extent I think unlike a few years ago now people are thinking twice and I think we think, I dont think we think twice about going out but I just think to myself, we

think twice about having a big night, do we want to be really excessive because now were all working a lot harder, I think. 31:58 What is your attitude towards spending nowadays has this changed over the last 3 years? No it's not really changed, no. My attitude to spending is My husband tries to rein me in and I like to spend. I think you know, if you've got enough to live on then I like to spend and enjoy it. I like to enjoy it. [00:39:26.12] Whats your attitude towards spending and has it changed over the last couple of years? [00:39:30.09] Spending on luxury products you mean, or anything? Well I think obviously everyone's struggling and tightening belts and that sort of thing, but I think when you get slightly older you get to thinking if I don't buy it now I never will, or if I don't go on that holiday now I never will, so although we're a bit more careful, I suppose we still do spend money. And do you think this has changed over the last couple of years? Yeah, I think you're more aware of what you spend, you know, that isn't to say that you don't still spend but you probably look round a bit more and shop around a bit more before you make your decision. [00:46:03.13] Whats your attitude towards spending and has it changed over the last couple of years? [00:46:07.14] Probably not, cause when does life begin? When the dog dies and the children leave home, so my life's just begun really.
And has it changed over the last few years? Yeah, possibly, cause I've got older.
Nothing to do with the current climate? No, not particularly. To a degree, I'm not particularly affected by the current climate. [00:53:46.03] Whats your attitude towards spending and has it changed over the last couple of years? [00:53:51.08] I would say I'm, every year makes me less carefree in the manner of spending because I just think they don't know what they're doing. And since 2007, there are all these people and they don't know what they're doing, they're ironinng fortunes, they're running banks, they're running big companies, and frankly I could do a better job.
TAPE 4
5:40 What is your attitude towards spending nowadays has this changed over the last 3 years? Tell me about this I hate to say I dont shop for clothes anymore. I have just bought something, but
5:55 Just spending in general, has it changed? Changed? No, just you know like, when your younger you buy different things and when your older you buy different things. Just the style has changed but not the attitude to shopping. And I buy necessary things; if its like something for the house, or something for the kids, if the car breaks down, buy a new car, so.
