II - PERSONAL EXPERIENCED

Motivation and objective

I chose to do my internship at the Labenne daycare because I have
toujours aimé être avec les petits enfants, de plus j’avais déjà gardé une petite
girl, and I really liked it. I also attended this daycare myself.
When I was little, the principal and some former employees used to...
knew me and my parents. To apply for my internship, I sent a
Cover letter to the mayor of Labenne, who responded in agreement with my
request. So I went to the nursery to ask for the instructions that
I should follow during the internship (bring clean shoes and a picnic
Unique, having my hair tied up for hygiene reasons and my schedule:
9h 4 PM).
I expect to find out during this internship whether I really enjoy being in contact.
of children and if I want to make it my profession.

Progress of the internship

On the first day I arrived at the daycare at 9 am, the director introduced me.
the employees and the other interns (Célia, two other girls from a high school, one
another from another high school and another adult lady): very warm welcome, the principal
and other employees recognized me... I then went to put down my belongings
In a room reserved for employees, I also changed shoes. I was told
assigned to one of the four groups (small/medium group fourteen months)
up to two years, group of medium/larger from two years to three years, and
two groups of children from three to four years old, one of which can
including children with disabilities), for me it was the group of older kids who did not
does not include disabled children.
Then I went to take care of the children, the older ones, who were playing with
puzzles then around 10 am in the morning we went to the daycare cafeteria:
chaque matin on donne du sirop (ou de l’eau) au choix, avec du pain aux
children.
I then stayed with Nathalie (my referent): she changed the diapers.
children who arrived before 9am (usually it takes four layers per
(day). When Nathalie finished changing the children, I went back to play.
Around noon, the children are going to eat in the cafeteria, I did not go to help for
give them food because with the other interns we went to eat
in the room reserved for employees: you must bring what you eat. We
we have a half-hour break.
When all the children have finished eating (around 1:30 PM), we prepare the
children to go for a nap (tooth brushing, changing, undressing…). There is
several dormitories according to the groups of children, the red, the yellow, the blue and one
another large dormitory where the older ones sleep. The children wake up little by little.
small, when they are awake, we change them and get them dressed. The most tired ones
sleeping until 3:30 PM.
They are then taken to taste, today was Julia's birthday.
girl from my group): the children ate a fruit yogurt, a juice
orange (or water) and Savane cake, Julia blew out her candles, she

We tidied up and cleaned, then I had to leave because it was 4 PM.

staff professionals: welcoming children and parents, setup
children in activities, change, meals, nap management...
The instructions from the director of this internship limited my actions to
observation, monitoring during the meal, activity management (such as
puzzles, drawings, paintings, modeling clay...

The other days of the week unfolded in the same timeline. By

contre il y a eu des « événements » particuliers :
Starting Monday: an outbreak of gastroenteritis that affected several children throughout
long of the week (7 children affected)
Monday and Friday: snack to celebrate the birthday of Julia and Baptiste (3 years old)
Wednesday: weekly visit from the pediatrician who conducted exercises on
motor skills for children
Friday: farewell party for an intern, farewell party for Emmy who is moving.
Friday between noon and two: team meeting with the director, the interns
not being invited.

In conclusion, this observation internship allowed me to familiarize myself with

the professional environment of a daycare: I learned that there was some
numerous participants within the daycare with specialized diplomas
(nurse, childcare assistant, specialized educator) and interveners
externals (pediatrician, psychologist...)
I noticed that the work is quite repetitive and that the day
continue is quite tiring due to the noise in the structure.
I was also able to note the importance of teamwork with the follow-up of
enfants, la transmission des informations.
The unpleasant aspects of work are noise, waiting during the nap,
and always stay indoors.
The behavior of a child 'with a disability or illness'
The chronicle impressed me because he was aggressive with the other children or the
personnel. D’ailleurs je n’avais pas connaissance du fait que les crèches
welcomed children "in difficulty" and I think it's good to
allow these links between "different" children.
On the other hand, I liked the contact with the children and the staff. I felt
found comfortable in the few activities

IV- PROFESSIONAL PROJECT

If I completed my internship in the field of activity that I had chosen this

experience does not necessarily support a specific choice of orientation towards all
jobs that I was able to discover in this organization.
I do not have a fixed professional project; in all the jobs that
I was able to glimpse, I prefer those related to the educational aspect.
So for my upcoming education, I prefer to follow a general pathway by taking
possibly an option related to educational professions.
I think that other internships or professional experiences could help me
allow me to position myself in a professional field.
