SPECIFICATIONS FOR 30 LITRES BLUE COLOUR HDPE CARBOYS SUITABLE FOR PACKING OF 85% FORMIC ACID AND 30 LTRS.

BLACK COLOUR HDPE CARBOYS FOR PACKING OF 99.85% GLACIAL ACETIC ACID.
1.00 HDPE Black/Blue colour of 30 liters capacity confirming to IS 6312 (latest) for packing of 85% Formic Acid and 99.85% Glacial Acetic Acid with inner seals and cap duly fitted with gasket, Carboys will be with self locking type of cap only. Black carboys will have necessary percentage of carbon black for protection against Sunrays. While manufacturing Blue Carboys in order to protect against U.V. rays of Sun, supplier will use required quantity of U.V. Stabilizer/U.V. Stabilized master batch so as to give minimum shelf life of 1 year when exposed to Sun rays. For Black colour carboys also minimum guaranteed shelf life will be one year. ISO 14001 on the caps should be embossed strictly as per art work given by GNFC. Vendor is also requested to put their name / logo on the back of the cap. 1.01 Shape : The carboys shall be rectangular (Jerry can) in shape and stackable vertically without support and HDPE caps with inner seal provision. The carboys shall not have any bulging from the sides in both empty and filled conditions. Capacity : 30 liters +/- 5%, but not less than its normal capacity. Weight : The weight of carboy shall be 2.0 kg. with +/- 3% tolerance limit. The average weight of carboy shall be minimum 2.0 kg. The acceptance criteria for the lot supplied shall be as per Annex-IV. Dimensions : The carboy dimension shall be as under : Length : 385 mm +/- 5 mm Width : 240 mm +/- 5 mm Height : 485 mm +/- 5 mm If dimensions of carboys are not within specified tolerance limit, lot shall be rejected. 1.05 Material of construction : The carboys shall be manufactured from virgin prime quality HDPE material confirming to IS 7328 latest. No reprocess grade material shall be used. U.V. Stabiliser or U.V. Stabilized master batch in required quantity will be used while manufacturing Blue carboys so as to protect them against Sun rays, Blue and Black both types of carboy shall have minimum shelf life of one year when exposed to Sun rays. Carboys shall be suitable for packing of 85% Formic Acid and 99.85% Glacial Acetic Acid. Printing and Colour : The printing on carboys shall be on both sides in yellow colour for Formic Acid and in white colour for Acetic Acid and / or as advised by GNFC from time to time and as per art work provided by GNFC from time to time.

1.08 (A) CARBOY CAP (Self locking type of cap) : o o Formic Acid Blue carboys will be with Blue colour cap with white inserts. Acetic Acid Black carboys will be with Red colour cap with white inserts.

GNFC logo and ISO 14001 on the caps should be engraved instead of screen printing.

(B) Provision of Dummy cap / transit cap : During transportation, vendor will ensure that carboys are fitted with dummy cap / transit cap to restrict entry of any foreign material / rainy water / dust, etc. This provision is required to avoid GNFCs product contamination. 1.09(A) Following test shall be carried out on sample carboys as per IS 6312 by GNFC at GNFC Laboratory. 1.09(B) In addition to above, following tests will be also carried out : o Cap, inner cap and gasket will be checked for compatibility with the acid to be filled in the supplied carboys by immersion test. The quality / colour of Formic Acid / Acetic Acid should not change during immersion test in acids. GNFCs laboratory test results shall be final and binding on supplier.

The bottom of carboy shall be marked / embossed with details of manufacturing month and year. The carboys supplied shall be checked at GNFC site for these marking and in case supply is more than 3 months old, same shall not be accepted. The carboys at bottom should bear vendors companys name clearly. Properties of HDPE Granules will be as per standard specifications of M/s IPCL / RIL for HDPE Grade HD 52GB003. Recovery of leaking / bursted carboys during filling operation : Though the lot is accepted based on sample testing, GNFC will recover cost of defective carboys / leaking carboys / bursted carboys found during actual filling operations at GNFC site. In case GNFC found large numbers of carboys with defects / excessive problem of leaking / bursting, GNFC will not use such lot and recovery will be made from vendor for such lot.

Vendor confirms they have noted that GNFC will procure Blue carboys with u. v. stabilizer for Formic Acid whereas for Acetic Acid, Black colour carboys are required by GNFC. Vendor confirms that the carboys after it is received at GNFC shall be tested in accordance with relevant IS specifications and standard fixed by GNFC. GNFC reserve its right to inspect the carboys at any time in vendors factory and / or can appoint any external agency for inspection of carboys, if required. However, test results of GNFCs Inspection Dept. shall be treated as final and binding upon Vendor.

The carboys shall be supplied within the weight tolerance mentioned in GNFC enquiry specification. The fitting of the caps MUST be PERFECT The Surface of the Handle of the carboys MUST be SMOOTH
