I Come with Joy [verse 5] #617
*Postlude
The Great Thanksgiving Overwhelmed with compassion,
he left the glory of heaven,
to become a prisoner of sin,
People of Advent, the Lord be with you! so we could be set free.
And also with you! Overwhelmed with hope,
People of Christmas, lift up your hearts. he entered death's house,
to break its dark power forever.
We lift our hearts overwhelmed with Overwhelmed with love,
grace to the One who was born for us. he travelled another road,
People of the Star, offer your songs of joy and walking to Calvary,
thanksgiving to God. so we might run with joy
We will sing our praises to the One into your waiting arms.
who has revealed glory and hope in
the Babe of Bethlehem. So, as we remember his birth,
as we prepare to journey with him this year,
In that first moment, you spoke, we speak of that mystery called faith,
Radiant God, which is revealed to us through Christ:
and the light of creation
dispelled the thick darkness of chaos. Christ has died; Christ is risen;
You whispered, Christ will come again.
and your glory filled the skies.
You sang, Holy One of stars and sinners,
and the dust of the earth send down your Spirit of hope
was shaped into your image, upon those gathered around this Table,
as you breathed life into us. and on the gifts of the bread and the cup,
We could have lived that they might make us
in grace and peace with you your faithful and loving children.
for as long as the sun endures, Feed us with the bread of hope,
for as long as the moon hangs in the night sky. that when we leave,
But we were tempted we will travel another road,
by the sweet taste of sin, to defend the weak,
and overwhelmed with temptation's to speak for the voiceless,
wealth of cheap gifts and thrills. to assist those cast aside.
The prophets were sent Refresh us with the sweet nectar of grace,
to tell of your gifts so we, overwhelmed with joy,
of joy and peace, would go forth
but we listened to the world's news to enter the houses
of success, power, achievement. of the strangers in our midst;
Finally, in that dark time of despair, to enter the despair
you sent Jesus, of the lonely and forgotten;
your servant of salvation. to enter the hearts
of everyone we meet.
Therefore, we will join our voices
with the wise ones, as well as the foolish, And when eternity's time begins
of every time and place and we are gathered around your Table,
who forever sing of your grace: with friends and family we loved,
with those we ignored and mistreated,
Holy, holy, holy Lord, with all our sisters and brothers of grace,
God of power and might, we will lift our songs of glad joy to you,
heaven and earth are full of your glory. God in Community, Holy in One. Amen.
