Message that life goes on and a continuous cycle. Different between Tom and Gatsby - Reasons for cheating were different. Gatsby though he belonged to her, but Tom wanted myrtle "on the side", he had no shame. Gatsby wants his dream, while Tom wants her 'on the side'. He is almost proud of his achievements.
