BASF - Egypt was established in 2000 and is a local 50/50 partnership between BASF Construction Chemicals GmbH, Germany, and the local United Paints and Chemicals, which in part is owned by the largest private construction concern in Egypt, Orascom Construction Industries. BASF - Egypt specialises in the manufacturing of the following range of products: 1. Admixtures for Concrete: Admixtures are added to concrete to increase workability; delay setting time and increase early and ultimate compressive strength. BASF supplies liquid concrete admixtures to ready-mix and site batching plants, pre-cast yards and shot Crete application companies. 2. Admixtures for Mortar: Admixtures are added to the mortar to improve its physical properties, increase its resistance to water penetration and improve abrasion resistance and durability. 3. Curing Compounds: Curing compounds are added to the concrete to eliminate the need for water, impart a harder dust-free surface and enhance curing efficiency, reduce chloride penetration and plastic cracking and shrinkage. 4. Grouting: Grouting products may be used with confidence for bedding, repairing, grouting and void filling operations such as concrete repairs, void filling between old and new concrete, floor patching, packing under columns and stanchions and filling tie-bar holes.

5. Repair Systems: Repair products inhibit corrosion and protect concrete. They are used in repair of damaged, decayed, weak or de-bonded concrete due to attack of chemicals and replacement of concrete that has spalled, chipped or cracked. 6. Tiling Systems: Tile adhesives are used for thin or thick bed fixing of ceramic tiles in interior or exterior situations, especially those exposed to permanently wet conditions. 7. Flooring Systems: BASF offers a range of flooring systems that provide solutions for all flooring applications, including: Dry-shake hardener: Dry-shake floors provide continuous protection to concrete floors against wear, impact and abrasion. It will also improve resistance to various industrial chemicals, oils, greases, detergents and hydraulic fluids found in the aviation industry. Epoxy-based: A coating system designed for continuous protection to concrete floors in light to medium duty operation. It can be used in a variety of applications, including: pharmaceutical and other medical laboratory situations, food and beverage production, fertilizers facilities, car production facilities, aircraft hangars and maintenance areas, warehouses for installations with a medium frequency and volume of traffic, and traffic decking. Polyurethane-based: A coating system for interior and exterior use. This system is a seamless, protective, waterproof and wear-resistant floor coating which provides a smooth or skid-resistant surface. Self-leveling: A self-smoothing, solvent-free epoxy overlay system for concrete floors. excellent wear and abrasion resistance to floors subjected to high volume traffic in warehouses or workshops. The smooth, ultra-dense and high gloss finish is ideal for situations requiring a hygienic, easily cleaned surface, such as food production including dairies, bakeries and confectioneries beverage production including soft drink manufacturing, pharmaceutical and other medical or laboratory situations and industrial and commercial kitchens. UCRETE: UCRETE flooring is based on a unique technology exclusively available from BASF Construction Chemicals, which guarantee that very low charge potential is generated regardless of the humidity conditions. UCRETE flooring has a light profiled finish and wet/dry slip-resistance. It also withstands chemically aggressive media which have an adverse effect on concrete. It is therefore mainly suitable for use in food and fertilizer industry. Anti-static: An epoxy-based, anti-static flooring system that can be used as a coating for industrial floors with medium to high exposure to mechanical wear, with smooth finish.

8. Waterproofing: Waterproofing products are used to waterproof and resurface concrete, masonry, and most other construction materials. 9. Joint Sealants: BASF offers polysulphide and polyurethane joint sealants that have excellent resistance to abrasion, chemicals attack and industrial environments. 10. Corrosion Protection: These products have good chemical resistance, in combination with the flexibility and water-resistant qualities to produce a system that will provide a high build, ultra dense coating to protect concrete, other cementitious substrates, and metal, against a wide range of aggressive media. 11. Bearings and Expansion Joints: Bearings are used to transfer the load from the bridge to the column, while expansion joints accommodate the bridge movement.
