Brown Color addition in A & B train
In A & B train during production of DAP (Br), body color is added into PN (Pre-neutralizer) and
surface color is sprayed into CFC (cooler feed conveyor).
The average dosing rate of body color and surface color is approximately 7.5kg/MT of product
& 8.5 kg/MT of product.
Considering target production rate of 55 TPH in each train,
Per hour requirement of body color = 7.5*55 = 412.5 kg/hour
Per hour requirement of surface color = 8.5*55 = 467.5 kg/hour
Body color density is = 1150 kg/m3
So, per hour volume requirement of body color = 0.4 m3/hr = 400 LPH
In surface color addition, pumping is sufficient and pump is running at 60 % of rated capacity.
There is issue in pumping body color and even two pumps are not sufficient to meet the
production rate.
The existing pump details for pumping body color are as:
Capacity: 1500 LPH
Make : Helicon
Head: 15 m
The head is very less considering the elevation & distance of PN of A & B train from color shed.
Flow was measured for body color pump at pump discharge & it came to be 1350 LPH.
So, we shall go for a higher head pump say 30 m head pump of same manufacturer.
The detailed modifications to ensure sufficient color pumping to A & B train is attached in
drawing.
The recommendations are as:
1. Pump with higher head capacity to be installed for body color i.e. 30 m head and of
higher capacity say 3000 LPH considering future requirement like enhanced production
after revamping
2. Flow meters to be installed for both trains body & surface color pumps to monitor the
flow. For body color, flow meter to be installed preferably neat to PN and for surface
color flow meter to be installed near CFC
3. The body color is pumped using flexible hose. Pumping by use of PVC pipe to be
explored
