o lord, I was born in the darkest of ignorance and the torch of knowledge was shone into my eyes by my Guru to whom I give obeisance (bow to)

Om Vishwaani deva savitar duritaani paraa-suva. Yad bhadram tan-na aasuva.

Oh Lord that resides within us, oh being of purity, remove the darkness and bitterness, keep away from us all evils and bless us with that what is good.

KINDLE THE LIGHT OF JNANA

Om Agnim ede Purohitam Yajasya deva hritvijam Hotaram ratna-dhatanam RV:1:1

We praise the great Lord who is the source of all light who existed before the creation of the universe from the smallest atoms and of all spiritual and material knowledge and of industrial skills and who at all times provide the beautiful things and the precious materials which are enjoyed by all.

10 PRINCIPLES AFTER DISTILLATION

Ahimsa (non-violence) Satya (truthfulness) focus of lecture tonight. Brahmacharya (often translated wrongly as sexual continence,it actually means the state of incessant search for the (ultimate) Truth (Brahman). Note that it is not called God, merely the Truth, whatever it is) Maitri (Friendship) Dharma (a rather crude translation would be " fulfilling one's duty ") KaruNa (Compassion) Viirya (Fortitude) Dama (Self Restraint - mental as well as physical) Shaucha (Purity - mental as well as physical) Dana (charity)

IS IT NOT BETTER TO LIVE AS A HINDU RATHER THAN STUDY HINDUISM?

In

the Buddha Sutras, it says: DO NOT BE SWEPT AWAY BY THE FLOWERY WORDS OF THE VEDAS What did Gautama Buddha mean?

A COMMON FLAW OF HINDUS IS LEADING TO FAILURE OF HINDUISM

We

think we can justify our actions however wrong because there is a loophole that may be stated in a scripture that can be misinterpreted for our convenience and we are all guilty of speaking ill of others

CLASSIC EXAMPLES
The

classic example of this is our acceptance of vices and evils of social and domestic nature. Suicide, Alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking and so forth. My brothers and sisters dont tell me the story that Lord Shiva drank alcohol!

FACTORS LEADING TO DESTRUCTION

FALSE PRIDE AND ATTACHMENT TO MATERIALISM

POWER,

We need to Understand our Purpose in Life and serve as a dedicated Human Being and as a Hindu.

FIRST LESSON: UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS GOD

Sri

Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi lila 6:42

Even though liberation destroys the bondage of material existence, I have no desire for liberation, in which I would forget that you are the master and I am your servant.

sev bhagavato muktis tat-pada-langhanam ko mdho dsatm prpya prbhavam padam icchati
bhaktih

Kishkindha-kanda chapter 21 texts 1-3

Bhakti means devotional service to God, Mukti means impersonal liberation, where there is no longer any devotional service. Only a fool will give up service to the Lord and instead aspire to become one with the Lord Himself.

LESSON 8: SUCCESS COMES FROM SACRIFICE

Sama Veda Paavamanda Kanda vs. 565 Atapta taturna tadaamo ashnute

Nothing can be achieved without enduring the fire of tapasya.

LESSON 9: GUARD AGAINST FALSE PRIDE

We need to carefully examine ourselves each day using the guidance of the rules and ask ourselves whether we have erred in any manner and pray for forgiveness and redemptionmake amends as soon as possible. MAA NA STARA ABHIMAATAYE

SUMMARY

God is a single entity, never plural or more than one God He is the creator and embodiment of all knowledge He presents the universe in a threefold manner; matter soul and supersoul Despite our material or spiritual achievements, we are all his children and we will/must aspire to become the best children/servants of the Lord Do not fall prey to false pride and power In your moment of grief, always go to the Lord and become his Sisyas (disciple) Let the scriptures be our guide in this process Truth has an exalted position in the eyes of the Lord and we must be truthful at all costs! We must stay on the path of righteousness Success comes from Tapasya or self sacrifice. Never fall prey to our false pride
